New to the DC area. I live south of DC and have seen a good number of FJR pilots commuting in and out DC and others taking advantage of the weather and roads in the area for a ride. Loving the area; cage drivers are another story. I'm hoping to link up with local FJRs. Maybe plan out some simple rides, get something to eat; nothing too difficult or involved. Post up if you are game. Understand it is October and opportunities may be limited but nothing says we can't build ties now. Look forward to hearing from you.

I've found you will pretty much be sitting around waiting for the proverbial phone to ring if you're going to expect (hope?) someone from this crowd is going to contact you. You're better off just picking a date, showing a ride, and advertising an eats by posting it up in this section. But be prepared- most often there will be absolutely no takers. None, nil, zip, nada. I still post the plans and maybe it's my deodorant or something but looking back I think I had one guy show up for a RTE and 2 guys show up for a ride but IIRC that's it. Me? I don't frikkin care, I'm perfectly fine riding solo and solo.

That explains a lot. I prefer to ride solo too but every once in a while I get the hankering to ride with others; especially others with FJRs. It's nice to see what others have done to their FJRs and the like.

Indeed it is nice to see what others have done, and I've been fortunate enough to see some but only b/c I rode 6 hrs to the southwest for a RTE. Or I rode 4 hrs for a RTE. Very rare that anyone ever comes up my way. Used to be a Tech Day now & then up your way but I haven't heard of one lately.

But keep your eyes on this section. Just recently I've posted lunch dates in South Boston, Danville, Martinsville and Rocky Mount- all in Virginia. And Banner Elk, NC. And a 3 day ride to the coast. And a Hwy 9 ride from Black Mtn, NC to NMB, SC. And...and...and...

Plus I'm not a bike snob. TO ME, saying 'preferring' to ride with others with the same bike as me is the same as saying I'm no better than the HD guys I know who won't ride with me just b/c. F them, everyone is welcome in my book. I've gotten some of my best ideas from people not on an FJR.

Yes, there are several of us a work that have bikes so we organized a ride out to Luray Caverns since I've been here. All kinds of bikes. I've done a charity run too in the area. Just no FJRs yet. I see them pretty frequently in the area and surprised to not see any "grouping" for the DMV area in this forum. Maybe I'm seeing the same bike.
