Do Yamaha tall accessory windshield come with foam gaskets??

I installed the Yamaha +4 inch accessory windshield on my 07 and noticed that the stock windshield had a foam gasket between the base that supports the windshield and the inside of the windshield--and fixed to the inside of the stock windshield with adhesive.

My Yamaha accessory windshield didnt have this gasket. Is this gasket necessary?? Do aftermarket windshields have a gasket between the metal base and the inside of the windshield??

Mine did not and the previous CalSci I had also did not. It does not seem to be required.

My Yamaha touring windshield did not come with one either. I just put it on without and haven't had any problems yet. About 500 miles on it.
