Been noticing a FJR parked in a driveway in town recently that I never noticed before. So today, I stop by and knock on the guy's door. I find out immediately that he only speaks polish (and I don't  ). His ridiculously attractive daughter finally comes to the door and translates for him. Turns out the guy has had the bike for a year and I hadn't noticed him. I naturally want to invite him to join the forum (which he knew nothing about), but I'm thinking, other than using the beautiful translator, is there any way the guy can communicate with us!?!?

Any suggestions?

Russian close enough?

Next time you meet him say :

Dras nu cha! Kak dela?

Translation:

hey/hello! Whats up?

Or if he starts lurking over your shoulder too much (wondering where the LITTLE GIRL is  )

Shtoe tee ha chew?

What do you want?

Want to ask him for his green card?

Try this one next time you talk to him:

Wasza córka jest bardzo piękna. potrzebuję (chcieć) żeby ślizgać się jej "kielbasa". ;)

Make sure to wink just like the emoticon. :p

I've heard good things about Zymol, but I prefer Collinite Fleet-Wax paste #885

Clicky

I think it's the best Polish around.

Thats the one thing I do like about Chicago, It's not a big city.......... Just a huge collection of neighborhoods. :)

Sorry I don't speak polish, I have enough trouble with english.

It would make life a lot easier for him if he spoke english. It's still USA right? I get it all the time w/ a last name of Stachura, no I don't speak it and quit asking, if I wanted to live in Poland(close enough in my neighborhood) I would speak it.

And yeah the chicks are unbelievably hot out here, but for some reason refuse to speak english.Buy him a frickin english book, sorry but I've damn near killed a few people because their idea of english told me they were having back pain instead of a fuckin heart attack, either that or the drunk dp is swinging at me saying dubje :angry2:

Larry, I would bring you a dictionary while I converse with the translator. :yahoo:

I am with Ed, but if you bring him over I am sure we can communicate in Russian. After all, they were forced to learn Russian in Poland for a long time.

Fencer,

Are you from Russia or just know few words? :)

So being FORCED to speak Russian again is a good idea? The Poles are a very proud people...don't know if that's such a good idea. But, hey, give it a shot, what do I have to lose? :)

Took Russian in college, hated Spanish from H.S. and for the lack of having anyone to speak to I have forgotten most of it. Gee, guess I should have taken Spanish again. PLENTY of those folks to speak to.

Ya nee zabivats minoga. where's that damn ceryllic keyboard?

Phonetic spellings are good enough. Right?

I have an aquantance from Serbia, I was really amazed that the two languages are not more similar. I thought it would be like UK English to American English, to Austrailian English, but its not.

So?....can anyone translate for the guy on the forum or what?....(just to get back on track)....he does own an FJR after all.....

:) I did not say it was a good thing to be forced. I just simply stated the fact that used to be true at least while that guy was in school. They do not force it any more specially after Russia fell apart.

Fencer,

If you trying to say I did not forget much. you would say something like this" Y ne zabil mnogo" or ear friendly "Y zabil chutchut" less negative spin :)

Serbian is not that close to Russian as Polish is.

Well, if he shows up for a ride I can speak to him in Russian and I am sure he would understand. Haven't seen one Polak that could not understand Russian yet. But sounds like Trigger would be a better choice.

And to reinforce Ed's point. Why don't we encourage him to speak English, no matter how broken it is. Hey, I still struggle with spelling and grammar and remembering words here and there but I am trying.
