I bring all this up because I have never seen the deer so thick in central Kali. EVER. So if you're passing through, be aware. Ride alert. Try to not ride at night. Yesterday, on a little 500 mile ride I counted 26 deer, all but 5 or so were in the 'strike zone'.

Encourage more hunting and longer seasons to cull the herd.

That, of course, means more fees from hunters going to more conservation efforts, too.

Probably the same one that was in your front yard when I left. Damn thing walked right in front of the truck. I would have shot it but they don't like my guns in Kalifornia so I was unarmed.

I actually saw two deer that size Thursday evening up Angeles Crest. They are everywhere. Scares the crap out of me.

Northern Kali is a deer factory. They are trying to kill me and I should have right to kill them. Northern Kali is where I had one of my most memorable close calls. It does not help the brush is not cut back off the road in many places.

When I was riding through Wyoming last year I got bored and started to notice all the antelopes on the range. One of my thoughts as I was scanning for the these four legged critters was picking them off with a revolver. Nice dream but likely not practical, but then again neither is riding the entire state of Wyoming from south to north in one day. Long boring stretches of range land with Antelopes on the hillsides with Buicks doing 80mph.

Wait...... The commy country of Kali has the stupidest bans on everything - they haven't banned deer yet...?

Can I turn this into a gun thread? Maybe not, but if people in Cali had more guns, you might have more hunters and less deer.

You think deer are bad... Just wait until feral pigs find out California is a sanctuary state.

I think they already have. Some of my customers just came back from a pig hunt in norcal and brought back almost 1100 lbs. of meat to be processed. BACON !!!!

It ain't just Kali, Don.

A couple of weekends ago, Sooze and I took the cage up to Buffalo for some familial stuff. There were more deer carcasses along the side of the road than I can remember seeing in any previous jaunts along those roads.

Had my shot at a big doe about 2 this morning. I missed, Damn Dodge Caravans just don't have the roll on when you really need it.

We have a lot of deer by me (Upstate NY) ... i would rather the pigs... I love Bacon. Bacon is delicious, as are other pig by products... but Bacon... Now that's special.

Aim for them, then maybe you won't be able to hit 'em. I didn't aim (well) so naturally I hit.

But I still do not see what federal pigs have to do with this...

Eat venison. It is de-lish-ous!

(edit - of course bacon is better because it is smoked! I'm a gonna try smoking some venison soon)

Around here, if you see one, there are usually more. One deer crossing the road well ahead of you may not really be a threat. But it will often be followed by another .... and another. If you see one, be very cautious until you're well past that spot.

Good word to the caution El Presidente CBA! I have seen more deer on my rides since Feb of this year than I have in any other year before - a lot of them were in strike distance. Three at a time on Hwy 58 in Feb, one suicidal deer in Yosemite in April, who jumped off a cliff, frack I almost nailed that one! One on Monitor Pass in May, where all the Aspen trees are right next to the road.
