Me & the Mrs. were on the way to Oulton Park today to watch the practice for the British Superbikes. The race track is in the middle of the Cheshire countryside, so all the roads feeding it are narrow and maybe 2 cars wide at best. We were doing 50-60mph somewhere near the crown of the road. the road was dead straight for about a mile and completely empty ahead and in my mirrors...as far as I was aware.

From nowhere a white van came past us doing 70 plus. The van nearly touched us and the draft all but sent us into the verge at the side of the road which was 3 feet from dense forest. His other wheels must have been on the grass. I was shaken to say the least, as was my wife. As the shock subsided rage set in and I tweaked the throttle to follow. The approach to the circuit is usually swamped by cops, and I intended to stop at the first one I came to. Unfortunately they were not there as today was only a practice day and not many attend. I stayed behind the van which to my amaizement turned into the circuit and stopped at one of 5 entrance gates to hand in his ticket. I rode straight through one of the others without stopping. The guy lept from his booth as I turned sharp left and parked the bike across the front of knob heads van.

We jumped off the bike and I raced back to the drivers window. He was about 21 and looked surprised when I started ranting at him. His window was wide open and what I should have done was launch the **** through the opposite window. By now the gate staff had surrounded me and were trying to calm things down. I looked round at my wife and the other people who had stopped to watch and I reluctantly backed away. The lad was just staring at me and said that he thought I would have seen him in my mirrors. ****** arsehole. From the moment I backed down and moved the bike I regreted not twatting him and spent the rest of the day looking at the countless white vans in the circuit trying to identify him.

But for pure luck we would have been on the grass and into the trees at 60mph. I am going back tomorrow for the races and will be watching for him. I will find out which team he is with and do my best to get him fired, as well as reporting him to the police. The van was very distinctive with blacked out rear windows and a roof bar with emergency yellow lights on it. In all the mele I dind't get the number.

We have a general name here for idiotic van drivers......'white van man' I met him today.

Awwwwwwwww..............the mythycal "white van" of death surfaces in the UK. I thought it was only an american occurance......

Yes, He's here. We call it "Rush Hour". It does not have to be a van, it does not have to be white, and It can be any time of day an any road. But I think we call it a little something diff. Like "******* with the cell phone in the ear nor watching around himself/herself"

I regreted not twatting him
Language breach here. You were going to hit him with a ******?

Appearantly Fencer and I share the same internal translator. :p  :D

We had a real one in DC too a few years back. It was the DC Sniper, turned out to be a car and not a van though.
