I had a couple of Dowco Guardian motorcycle covers (FJR and SV650) that were becoming sun-rotted, ripping on the tops. Got a return authorization from Dowco and sent them in. All contacts handled by email, quick responses, no hassle, no problems, just getting two new replacements per their lifetime guarantee. Definitely a first class operation.

My Gardian bike cover fell apart couple months after I bought new. Bag zipper broke right away, and the glued seems all have fallen out. I have warentee but will buy another product that holds up. Guardian brand is less then crap.

I have owned them in the past and own Guardian all weather cover now. I used one for 5 years on my daily rider and it held up to the day I gave it away with a bike that I sold. I have had great experiences with their product and their customer service. Never needed the warranty but glad to know they honor it.

Rob, I see you are in Vero Beach. The relentless Florida sun is murder on these covers, especially if you leave it outside all the time like I do. Some of the seam reinforcement tapes on mine also came out (althought the seams did not come apart) and the fabric on the top became sun-rotted and started shredding. I did not mean to give glowing praise to the cover itself, but rather to the excellent customer service. However, since they did hold up for over a year in the sun and heat of Miami and since the company was so easy to deal with regarding the free replacement, I would not hesitate to buy another Dowco cover if I added another bike. It is a good product, just not designed for the tropics. Something with the top made out of Sunbrella would likely hold up much better but it would be a lot heavier and the cost would be higher. With all the bikes in

Florida, I would think there would be a market for a better product.

Big AVOID on Dowco. I laugh when I see them for sale in a classified because I know it's someone getting rid of theirs as it's started falling apart. Mine lasted exactly 9 weeks of daily commuting before it began tearing and showing sun wear, and this was just in Minneapolis, not some sun-mecca.

In general, a warranty is great on a car, it's a pain in the *** on a cheaper product as you waste more $$$ in the time spent getting it serviced when it shouldn't have to be in the first place. Never again.

I bought a Dowco half cover to protect my bike at work...I commute daily. In less than 6 months the fabric disintegrated. It was pretty obvious junk from day one...just a question of how long I could make it last. Not long.

I concur with David. I have a Dowco XL, L, and M. I never know which size will best fit the bike of the month. They are fantastic and I like David said, the lifetime guarantee is above reproach. It is most important to get the correct size for your bike. Too big and the wind will get at it, but not under it. It is important to have a few inches of airflow underneath the covers to prevent rotting. Too small and you get tears and inadequate coverage. Be sure to spray your cover occasionally with 3M Scotchguard. It will help to protect the cover from the effects of the sun, maintaining the covers water-resistant qualities. After using the 3M, it is noticeable how quickly water runs off the covers. You can put the covers on while the bike is still hot, and I often do because Murphy's Law dictates that if I dont', it WILL rain. lol.

Dowco just replaced my five (5) year old cover (Large Guardian Weatherall Plus) which still worked but only as shade after 5 years outside in South Texas. The plastic at the seams was long gone and the cover was heading towards threadbare. I lost the original reciept of course, but after sending in a 1'X1' square, they replaced the cover in less than 2 weeks. I dealt with a gentleman named Ken via e-mail and he was a pleasure to do business with. In my humble opinion, I thought the cover held up well in this part of the country. I am more than impressed with Dowco's handling of this and would absolutely advise anyone needing a cover to consider this product.

Blessed for sure,

Bobby

I have had the same experience with Dowco.

Dowco just sent me a new Large Guardian Weatherall Plus to replace mine which was ten years old.

No charge, free shipping.

My cover spent only one summer outdoors. I really expected it to last longer than it did. I'll try to remember to feed it some Scotchgard once in a while and see if it helps.

Dowco Guardian moto cover has been good to me. Bought in June 09 and has been fine through the winter. Wish i could say the same about my grill cover. I bought another

dowco for my FJR but havent used it yet. =)

Also, bought Dowco Iron luggage. Will post seperatly for those when I get the chance to use them in June.

I returned a badly faded (not fot that reason), seam torn, and plastic breather cracked afalling apart Dowco, no issue no hassles on getting a replacement. two thumbs up for DOWCO. ;)

Huge props to Dowco covers!!

I purchased my first Dowco motorcycle cover (size XL), back in 2007, for about $64, at Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse. The cover had a Limited Life Time Warranty. I used it everyday as I covered my Feej at work. So each day it was removed from my saddlebag, stretched over the bike, sat in sun or rain, then got stuffed back in the saddlebag at the end of the day. Well, after a couple years of that, the stitching started to come undone, the plastic vent was starting to crack and fall apart, and it was fading pretty badly (fading is not covered under the warranty). In 2009 I spoke with a customer service rep, and I shipped my old cover back to them, they shipped me a brand new Dowco Guardian Plus.

Now it's been another two years of daily use and the stitching started to come unraveled around the shock cord, vent was holding up nicely this time, and it really didn't fade much (great improvement over my last cover). I called Dowco again and they referred me to their website online. I had to give them $10 for processing, send them a cut out of the damaged area, one foot by one foot, send them a copy of my receipt, and the original manufactures tag on the inside of the cover. About 10 days later (yesterday), I received my brand new Dowco cover.

Great customer service and a great product. Highly recommend.

Just sayin' here, if you keep you receipts, etc., it pays off big on warranties.
