drain plug gaskets

Was curious to know if the same gasket is used with the oil drain plug and the two plugs, one for filling and one for draining, in the final drive when changing the gear lub. The plugs all appear to be the same size. Thanks and be safe. Later

The crush washers are all the same for the three bolts. (Remember when replacing the crush washers that the more rounded end, of the washer; the crushable side, goes up against the bolt, the flatter side goes against the assembly, i.e. oil pan or the rear gear.)

Is there a good online source for these. Local dealer is only open durring my business hours and I never remember to go by durring the weekend (damn yardwork). If I can find a place on line, I'd like to order a bag full and be done with it.

This has been discussed before so you can find details if you search, but I use copper washers available at any auto parts store. Just put one on each of the three plugs and you don't have to replace them at every change. I have been using the same ones for 50k miles.

Yep, I use/used cooper on radman's suggestion. They work as well as the crushers and are reusable ad infinitum. Problem is, when you take it to the dealer, they toss 'em and put back the crushers - even though requested not to. <_<

I use the crush washer. One advantage that I like is you know it is about tight enough when you feel the washer crush. Less chance of stripping threads.

I have changed mine about 2 times. And, my reason for doing so is because after doing it the 1st time I purchased about 10 of them. Then, on about my 5th or 6th oil change I remembered that I had not been changing them. Thats when I considered this crush washer thingee to be overated at best.

Nowadays, I will change them about every 2nd or 3rd change but I don't loose sleep over them leaking oil as per um just not worried about it on this {06A} particular bike.

You don't have to replace the 'crushers' every time; even the service manual states: replace if damaged.
