Ouch!

Have that shoulder checked out ASAP--I dislocated my shoulder, very badly, on my FZ1 16 months ago so I get sympathy pains.

I was just up at BM on Father's day, to the lookout tower!

I dropped my FJR at the end of my driveway, at the start of a 200 mile trip, with only 700 miles on it! Right side, tho. I brought all the plastic to a body shop in Wharton, NJ and he did a marvelous job--can't tell I had at tip-over!

I am sorry to hear about your mishap. If you want to check out OEM prices go to Ron Ayers

You can check out all the prices for the pieces you need and also order them if you want to do the repair yourself.

Hope that helps.

Don't be tellin' people what yer true-love weighs - she'll kick you in the nnnnnuuuuttts!!!!

Then - the pain of your accident won't seem so bad.

Recover soon - heal the bike - back on the road quickly!!!!

I left you a post on the other board,

Ps dont feel bad I pulled a stupid one :( while trying to get it up on centerstand to remove front tire and replace it with new one dropped on the right side, was lucky the windsheild went between the truck cab and the bed just bent my driving light bracket got that back in place scratced thev sheild at the top but I look over it any way. I was lucky my new back pack was there as was my boots so it went slow no othe damage.

I dropped mine on the right side also when I was putting it up on the stand to remove the rear wheel after getting a nail in the tire. I felt like such a dumb ***. I put a 2x6 under the stand to get enough clearance to roll the tire out and didn't take the change of leverage into effect. I got the stand half way up when I realized my error and the bike started leaning away from me. I knew I could save it and was teetering with it for about 15 seconds. I started screaming for my kid, (who was sleeping on the couch) and then as gently as possible placed it on the concrete garage floor. The sounds of what I thought was cracking fairing made me sick. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was but there is noticable white scuffing on the lower fairing.

At least I had the decency to maintain the equilibrium of the Universe, and drop it TWICE in the same day, once on each side fer chists sake, within the first 1000 miles  Both were no/slow speed and the tip over guards prevented damage to the fairing pieces. Minor scuffs on the bottom of the bags which you can't really see, and some scuffs on the mirrors, since replaced with FZ1 carbon fiber.

Yes, I did feel like the ultimate dumb a$$ that day.

I don't think you will find a better source than Gary McCoy for replacement parts, but as was suggested, check with a body shop for the major painted stuff.

No how in the heck did you drop it twice???

I second looking for parts at University Motors. I'd estimate that there parts go for almost 50% off of ordering through Yamaha.

Zorkler, condolences. Yer story bums. Feel better.

Here's a third for Gary McCoy @ University Motors. That guy is great!

Did you have sliders or TOGS? If not, would sliders or TOGs have saved you any damage. I still haven't bought any so I am curious.

I looked up "Ron Ayers" and they only list the 03 & 04, I did not see the slightly faster 05 listed. :D

Now how in the heck did you drop it twice?
I was wondering the same thing.

I hope it wasn't a silly slow moving wheel slightly turned and then grabbing the front brake fiasco. I have seen many people do that, and with new bikes.

Or you can do like me and have both. I put the TOG on last year (a week or so after dropping my bike, of course). A few weeks ago I switched to the R&G sliders. I decided to leave the TOGs because...well why not. There was one good thing about dropping my bike. When I went to drill the fairing for the sliders I noticed the engine bolt had left an impression on my fairing. I just drilled in the middle of that spot and it was perfect.

I'll post a picture when I figure out how. I think TOGs adn sliders look good together.

If you are going to choose between TOGs and sliders I would definitely go for the latter.

Ditto on Gary at University Motors. He'll save you alot of money.I couldn't bellieve how much he saved me...

@Espia4ci, and anyone else who is "thinking" about it, as posted on another site:

Order some sliders! Now! Do not wait! Too many "silly" things have happened. My fault, your fault, their fault, nobody's fault, it doesn't matter! Protect your tupperware with sliders. Moko's, Moto's, R&Gs--just buy and install them. One incident and they will have paid for themselves.

Mike, sorry to hear about your mishap. Please get your wife checked out by a medical professional. A fall like that can "slap" a rider to the ground and can easily be more than a sprain (though I'll hope and pray for the lesser).

Hopefully all who read this will "learn" from your, uhm, er, experience. I'll 4th the comment about Gary McCoy. University Motors in Fargo, ND, are really nice people. Even if Gary is still on vacation, they can take care of your FJR needs. If the bodywork is not severely damaged, it may be less expensive to have it repainted.

Is there a US distributor for the R&G sliders? How much are they? I think I need to order some ASAP.

Alas, to all those wondering why twice on the same ride, it was indeed the dreaded low/no speed sqeeze the front brake with the wheel turned :bad: . I know, I should be ashamed of myself.

First one was leaving my friends drivway, look left, look right, release clutch, look left again, OMFGod a car turned to corner 10 feet from me, sqeeze brake, and as my friend told me, ***** and elbows is all he saw at the bottom of the driveway.

Later that day pulled into a gas station and motored around toward the front of the mini mart, lthe concrete abuntment between the service bays was sticking out in my direction of travel, didn't see it till the last minute, grab brake AGAIN, go tipsy.

I'm not worried, it has or will happen to 90% of you at some time.
