Dropped my new 2008, schratched the crack case cover and the saddle back (badly) Any suggestions for a place to buy a crankcase cover (and how to install it)? and new L saddlebag? I am told lids alone aren't sold. My dealers prices are huge.

thanks, feels awful after the excitment of getting a new bike. and apologies if this has been posted before

Ralph

For the crank case cover you'll have replace it no way out I don't think....get a carbon fibre cover from bike johnny....a good spray painter should fix the bag...good luck mate

I had my bag repainted by a body-shop; it looks like new and for a lot less than a new one. :clapping:

Good luck.

NOW you know why some of us...er...uhm..."old timers" always suggest sliders for the #1 farkle!

Sorry for your mishap, its a heck of a way to put the first scratch in your new FJR!

I have the BikeJohnny carbon fiber cover on my alternator cover. Linked here,

University Motors is your friend.

If the alternator cover is only scratched, not cracked or broken, you might check out bike jonny's site. Just cover and protect it against further damage.

You might want to send a PM to garauld, the guy who builds the custom racks for the FJR. He repainted my left bag lid in December and did a really nice job for a very reasonable price. It was well worth the hassle of taking the bag apart and shipping. I am very happy with what he did for me.

My sympathies!

And get some sliders. whatever if fine, if they get scratched up, get new new pretty ones...<G>

Did the same thing, same side with my 07 back in June. My sympathies.

Ponyed up for a new saddlebag and mirror from University Motors. Be aware, because yours is the new color, it may take a while for the order to come in. My mirror was back-ordered. Took about three months and had to suffer through using the FZ mirror alternative while I waited.

Welcome to the club!

As others have said, sliders are important and I had them, but they didn't save my side case or my mirror. Perhaps they saved my engine case cover from failure, but it was scratched as well. Didn't replace it.

That incident taught me valuable lessons, one of which was to leave the side cases at home unless on a long distance trip. I just use a top box for grocery getting.

Damaging your bike always sucks, feel a bit better that you are far from the 1st to drop a FJR. AND now that the 'cherry' is off, you can relax and enjoy it more.

Lots of good suggestions already, you'll have it back to pretty soon enough.

So that's how its done........mmmmmmm....more fun in the twistys, higher top-end speed, and stopping when I have to pee........I like the way you think!

I've never done that. Right.

I dropped a bike in my garage while practicing because it was too cold and wet to ride. Stupid is as stupid does.

I've bought a few parts from University Motors and they were very helpful and competative.

Enjoy the ride.
