Nice looking web pages.

10 years after the end of the world, there will be three things moving. VW bugs, cockroaches, and KLRs. Not a knock, as probably half the members have had one at some point.

Unless you want to spend more money, stay off the 100+ lb lighter WR250R, with it's 6 speed and fuel injection.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I know I have knocked my KLR around! I have to admit I have thought about getting a lighter bike like the WR250R to try and shorten my learning curve. Was it not reliable?

Reliable?

As a rock!

The best advice I've heard is to buy the bike for how you like to ride, not to try to fit the bike TO your ride. If you expect an interstate tourer with the WRR, you will be disappointed. For hard core wandering on dirt roads and finding camp sites, it's hard to beat.

This is a great article to introduce people to dual-sport riding.<br /><br />One of the points that really struck a chord was the remark about what a different mindset you have. Most of us nearly have a coronary when our road bike falls over, but when that happens with my 2000 Suz DRZ400e, my reaction is, "Oh, it fell over again. Oh well."<br /><br />I've been enjoying this style of riding for over 20 years. These days mostly go to 'just for fun' DS rides with MSTA (Motorcycle Sport Touring Association), which is a great haven for FJR & oher sport-touring riders. There is also a significant contingent of DS riders in the club. Check them out at https://www.ridemsta.com/<br /><br />Plan to share this article. Thanks for posting!

Thanks NormKern I appreciate it. I like the DRZ400 as well. Some of the guys I ride with have those and they swear by them. I'll check out the MSTA as well.
