Took off for show low! This ride was fantastic, high speed sweepers, comfortable weather and nice views of the Az mountains ( Az is not all desert!)

Stoped at a national park campground for a break ( 3 bucks but refunded if ya left in half hour, which we did)

Tell me more about Duke!
Duke is a dog who my pop rescued from an LA county pound (his car was hijacked with his 2 dogs and he only got one back so after months of going to the pound to find butch, they talked him into taking duke) My pop got the alztimers bad so he had to go live in a memory care place (in vegas) So I took duke and I wanted to take him to visit my pop on my concours (a 220 mile rt drive for me) So I got an extra bag and cut a hole in it and added a windshield and got him some goggles. He took to ride'n right away so I started taking him on a lot of rides. It's pretty cool how many people he makes smile, (I wish I had a buck for every pic taken of him, I could buy a new bike every year!) So in Jan I got an fjr and made him a bag (donated by a fourum member) I just say ya want ride the bike and he starts waggin his tail and bark'n!

I gotta say...

That is a way cool way of recycling a busted up bag. Duke must love the ride!!

Very cool!!

Holy sheet that is awesome, Go Duke! :yahoo:

I was on those roads a couple weeks ago going to Phoenix, though I decided to do it a day that they had really nice crosswinds. Man I enjoyed going through that forest after the open down slope areas around Show Low

Thread hijack!

We're headed out to Arizona in a couple of weeks, spending a few days in Sedona. Any suggestions of must-see stuff, or must-ride roads would be appreciated.

Sadly I shall be leaving my beloved FJR at home for this trip. The reason is that we're aiming to find some roads-less-traveled/paved. The dual sports are more at home than a touring bike, on the kind of roads we're hoping to find.

Whaddya say Duke? Where should we go?

My quess for the roads your look'n for ya should head towards mormon lake. And a paved road is to go to the mining town of jerome, lots of tight twisties as ya go up from there. And a nice place just north of flagstaff is a national park that has a volcano ( cool lava flows)

Thanks. Jerome is near the top of the list already. We spent a week in the area a couple of years ago, tossing the FJR around Mingus Mountain. That is a cool road, with some amazing views. We're also going to revisit Route 66 from Seligman to Oatman, and see the burros.

Let me know as when ya ride 66 you'll be coming through here (kingman) and perhaps I'll ride with ya up to oatman! Here's a map of morman lake area!

Thanks for the map. Mormon Lake is now on our to-ride-to list. Most likely will take in some of Route 66 on our way home, Friday 12th or so. Coming from Sedona, we're headed towards the Southern CA beaches. The ride is no big deal on an FJR but the bikes we're riding might persuaded us to make it a two day trip instead of one.
