I have an 80gig Microsoft Zune and have loaded 100+ albums to it w/ the Zune software running on an XP machine. This has been a flawless process...so far.

Now I think I want to try loading some video DVD's to it...it has lot's and lot's of space left! However, I don't know what software I need to do that. Can anyone help?

FULL DISCLOSURE: I tried search but am not sure I was using the correct search string(s).

Thanx.

I'm not familiar with the Zune, as I use an Ipod. For *most* portable players you will need to re-encode the movie into a compatible file type (MPEG4 probably). There are lots of pieces of software to do this for you, but I have not found a good free one yet.

Have a look at the IiLougne forums for suggestions, and I would assume there is a Zune forum or two as well.

Thanx, Travis.

After posting this question, I've been looking around the intardweb and found DVDFab Mobile...it has a free version (i suspect it has some kind of limited use) but the actual package costs $49.99. Seems to be good for re-encoding DVD's to iPod, Zune, etc.

P.S. Hope all is well on the left coast.

I have been using DVD Fab for many years. It is a GREAT program. I've been using the mobile version now for about 7 months to rip movies to my kids' PSP and my cell phone. Can't go wrong with it.

I used Cucusoft DVD to Zune Converter. It worked great. You can download it and try it first. It will just put a watermark in the center of the video. Pretty much you place the DVD in the drive and unless you want to tweak the settings you just let it do it's thing. When it is done you move the video to your Zune video directory on your PC and sync.

I watched a DVD on my Zune on my flight to Cancun with the family last month and it worked well. I am sure there are others as well but this one was pretty easy to use and worked as advertised.

Hope this helps.
