Sold a couple items recently on eBay and noticed now that they hit you with a "Final Value Fee on Shipping" fee!

When did that start?

It's basically that the final value fee applies to the total winning bid amount + shipping. This is done to discourage auctions at $1 with $49 shipping for something worth $50 to avoid paying ebay fees on the majority of the value of the item. All info on fees is here: https://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

What U.P. said. It's not on shipping, per se, it's on the total. As to when they included shipping, I couldn't tell you.

It's still too damn much. I've used eBay for buy and sell trading for a long time now. I'm not a merchant, but I'll buy something, decide it's useless and reBay it. By the time eBay takes their chunk and Paypal takes theirs, you're out about 15 to 18 percent of what you sold it for....

Still, it's the easiest and safest way to do online trading with strangers.

Makes sense with your explanation, thanks!
