ECU Replacement, now no brake lights, no rear turn signals

Just got my 06 back from the dealer, they did an oil change, general check, and the ECU recall. When I dropped it off, brake/tail lights and rear flashers worked fine. I picked it up today, no rear turn sigs, no rear brake lights. When I activate the turn signals, the fronts flash very rapidly. Hazards work in front only. Dash lights and headlights all fine, rear license plate light on. i checked the fuses, the signal system fuse is fine.

Is this somehow related to the service they did on the ECU? I noticed when I started it that there was something like 'F-1' showing on the display, it went away when I restarted it. Of course I only noticed all this when I was 1/2 home, and they had closed for the day at the shop. Now I have the bike 40 miles from the shop, and to add insult to injury, I noticed a nail in the tire, so it's no longer going to be easy to even get the bike back down there, even if I wanted to drive it without signals in the rear. Any help would be appreciated. Frustrating since it worked fine when I dropped it off, and that I didnt check it out prior to leaving, just didnt occur to me to check the brake and signal lights before riding off.

1) Call them in the morning, they need to know.

2) It sounds like a bad ground....but check the fuses.

Blaster, it sounds like an open at the ECU plug - and I can only think of three things that might possibly be the problem -

broken wires on the wiring harness, or perhaps wires in the ECU plug that have loosened and backed out, or, (and this would be really obvious) the ECU plug is not properly seated in the jack.

Another possibility is an open plug in the wiring harness between the ECU plug and the non-functional lights.

Take the seats and the left silver side panel off, just below the drivers seat. You will see a plug that connects the wires going to the back of the bike with the main harness. They unpluged it for access and forgot to plug it back in.

That would be my guess as well. That wiring harness plug connects the all of the rear lights to the main harness. It just hppens to be where Scorpio Alarms are hooked in too B) . Pull the left side pannel as you sit on the bike, and pull the air intake scoop, and its right there.

You guys are great, and S76 and Silent, you were right on the money. Since the bike was not safe to ride between the signals and the nail in the tire, the dealership sent a guy (they made the same mechanic who put the ECU in come get it :lol: ) to pick the bike up and took me and the bike back to the dealership shop.

There, we found that he did indeed just forget to plug the harness back in.

They also pulled the tire, which turned out to have a 16p nail directly through. Looked nasty. Based on what I've read here, I had them put a Dunlop Sportmaxx RoadSmart on, and within an hour I was on my way.

All in all, I was really happy with how I was treated, and give a big thumbs up to Larry's in Jeff City, MO. They made things right, and fessed up for their error. It was a nice day for a ride, and I was back on the bike by midday. I think I am going to like the Dunlop also.
