Okay, I'll give you two days for that...what about the other two days?

Our route did work out a little shorter than normal this year. The first day is a pretty short ride so I created a little extra credit loop that starts and finishes right near Garberville. We normally try to keep each day around 300 - 350 miles. It gives us a chance to stop and smell the roses from time to time. We'll spend an hour at Burney Falls on this trip, that's our one sight seeing event. Each year we have taken some time here or there to get off the bikes and take a look around. We don't have any Iron Butt'ers in our group.

You might want to check, but I'm thinking that the part of that loop that is south of Honeydew is dirt. The road between Honeydew and 101 is paved, though very rough and narrow in spots. North of Honeydew is the Lost Coast area -- almost haunting in a beautiful, semi abandoned sort of way.

Thanks for the tip. That's the problem with these Map websites, you never can tell what's paved and what's not. If we run out of pavement, we can always turn around and head back the way we came it's only an 85 mile loop. I figured we would be okay on those roads since they are the yellow ones and not the tiny white ones.

Sorry I live in Southern Ca in the concrete jungle, talked to MM2 today. He is progressing slowly takes off his neck brace for a short time then puts it back on, walks twice a day still a short distance but he's getting there. Dont Email him as he cant respond to them.

Well we didn't end up doing that extra route anyway. We just knocked off early the first day and enjoyed some food, drink and people watching in Garberville. There was some type of festival going on that day and there were plenty of interesting people out and about.

Overall it was the best trip yet. Day 2 was awesome riding. Highway 36 was a lot of fun. Salmon River Road and Sawyers Bar Road were slow going. We may have only traveled 320'ish miles on our second day but then you travel about 60 to 70 miles on a road that was wouldn't pass for a good driveway, it can take a long time.

The morning of Day 3 had some wide open riding but some great views of Mt Shasta. It wasn't too technical compared to Day 2 but we rode for hours at a time only seeing one or two cars here and there.

We had a few sections of road that were gravel here and there for short stretches. One road in particular out by Lake Berryessa had some unexpected sections of gravel. There were also three times where there was some major road deconstruction. One section of 299 was completely torn up for a few miles. We had to travel behind the pace car on dirt and mud for that section of road.
