Just recently took delivery of my 2008 FRJ1300A. Looking at the left side of the engine, just to the right of the vertical (left bending) hose, there seems to be a threaded screw hole without a screw. Seems that something could be mounted there, as there is a small tab to the right of the hole.

Is something missing here? It is near the shift mechanism, so perhaps this is a mounting hole for a component of the AE model. I don't have the service manual, so I thought I would check here.

Thanks.

Just added picture. This should help.

There is an unoccupied threaded bolthole on my 08 also. I think it’s in the general area you are describing. Which is behind the “hose” and forward of the shift arm, correct?

No need to worry, nothing goes there. It was probably used during manufacturing/assembly or is for some weird accessory that's not sold here...

Thanks for the replies. Sure it's a clean engine, the bike has been in the garage. Can't wait for the weather to warm up and get it dirty.

I'll bet them genius engineers intended a clamp to go there to support the line in front of it. Y'all know how them clutch lines can come loose.

That hole is where the governer attaches. Hmmmm... mine didn't come with one either. Guess that's why it always seems to be going so fast.

Shiny!!

That's not going to be the last threaded hole you find with nothing in it.

As long as you have time, it might be fun to see how many more you can find.

there....fixed it fer ya.....now, what were we looking for?

Such a helpful bunch. I typed too soon. I think this pic will show you that the AE DOES NOT have anything attached there.

It's used by the assembly line in the production of the engine. It has no use to you , the end user.

That is unless you want to put a highway peg there. <_<

They knew they were running short of clamps from stock to stabilize the clutch line so they opted to just leave them off of all the scoots so they would look normal. Then they fed everyone the "story" that they used it just for "assembling" the engine. Y'all are suckers.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :D
