with the JB set up does it use a mic in your helmet (have drooled over them in mag. adverts for couple years now but haven't pulled that trigger yet)
JB??? James Brown???

I have the J&M

linky to JB er J&M

Mic and speaker wired to helmet. I think they now have or will soon offer bluetooth stereo so no wire to helmet. Expensive set up but it works great.

I get a lot of help through the cb on the interstate and I always call out on it if I see trouble.
So Grumpy and I will be the Grumpy Old Men with the CB's!
Make that three of us, Bill. ;)

Although I'm also set up for GMRS radio with the switch of one plug. Both radios mounted right next to each other at all times.
OK, so how did you do that? You are using the same mic and speakers for both radios?

Jim

Seems like all the ironbutts use a kenwood FRS with external attenna. Seems almost to be a standard thing around here.

Thank you Mr. Bill for the linky, but it no workie fer me??

Do you think I made them mad by calling it a JB? instead of J+M???

either way, thank you and I'll let google be my guide :)

OK, so it looks like we should settle on the lower, non subchannels to accomodate FRS and GMRS.

Howz about channel 3?

GMRS Channel-3

Works for me!

:)

If anybody gets too chatty, I'll just pick a sub-channel and start talking junk about everyone.

:)

No doubt, Jeff. Me thinks chat should be minimal. Safe airspace for cop/road/cleavage alerts, directions, and most importantly, where to find cold beer.

Cool. I like channel 3 :D .

I would like to claim some ignorance with the following statement. My Talk about (FRS/GMRS) offers both a transmission and reception channel. Moreover, it sems most radios 'transmit' on channel '0' when they are dialed in on say channel 3. I can set the main channel to 3 on dial in 0-99 on a 'transmit' channel. Would this be the channels and subchannels as stated earlier on this thread?

But I like singing songs from famous musicals and playing "the alphabet game" while riding... :)

...and hey... I like talking junk about people, too. Can we do that all on the same channel?

So you guys are really going to like my two tin cans and string..... That way Mark and I can talk junk

Speaking of Radio's here.....

Anyone have any experience with the Midland GXT800 Series as seen here ?

supposed 26 mile range and waterproof? GMRS/FRS/LMNOP goodness?

Looked interesting for the cost.

The disclaimer says that range is only over open water and unusual solar conditions or something like that. I use gmrs handhelds on the boat and rv and never get more than a mile or two out of them.

But, you don't really want to listen to people in a 26 mile circle anyhow. These should work fine riding with a group of bikes. Waterproof is a very nice feature!

I wonder what the range of two cans and string would be???

I have a chatterbox FRS X2 If I dial it to channel 3 will it receive from/transmit to the GMRS channel 3???

Yeah I know I'm a dumb *** but had to stick my neck out and ask
