Anyone out there with a metric measuring tape and calipers... and an ES model (I suppose from 2014-2016 all the same measurements?) can give me the diameter of the fork outer tube and the length?

Cheers

Luis

Sorry Luis...I haven't gotten around to checking the measurements.

At what points on the fork? I'm sure you know that the ES has an upside down fork.

The fork outer tube is 52.0 cm from the top of the triple tree to the end where the inner tube exits. It's 25.4 cm from the top of the triple tree to the bottom of the triple tree. It's 26.67 cm from the bottom of the triple tree to the end of the outer tube.

The fork is 5.01 cm between the triple tree clamps. The fork is 6.0 cm at the end where the inner tube exits.

I'd guess that you aren't going to get these babies through your 2001 triple tree. You may have an issue with the inner tube at the front axle too. If that's what you were thinking of doing.

Aha! Oh... it is even crazier! I was wondering re putting inverted forks on a 2016 A but without the hassle of the added electronics. One would need to source a donour ES upper and lower yokes and an outer and inner tubes... and, of course, a decent pair of cartridges... and caps...what is the diametre of the outer tube?

Calipers and everything else appears to be the same...

@Luis, I did a lot of research swapping USD forks to a standard FJR.

Sourcing all new parts, I'm looking at ~$2700 USDollars. This is going first class all the way including a MCL upper clamp and Penske or Traxxion cartridges. You could save substantially by finding a wrecked 'ES FJR and stripping the good front end off. Easily doable, cost is the only issue holding me back.

Thank you all! Still trying... always trying. Waiting for those 2016 to drop prize when off season... doing my homework in the meantime... have to say that the headlight assembly is also different...bummer!

Those USD forks are just too pretty! Got to have them! And the easy way... well, too easy...

Took some measurements at the dealer today... still looking for donour parts such as gold outer tubes... R1 type... Tenere's...too long, R6 a little short...have not measured R1's... I suspect they will b short too...

One can always find the actual fjr's and having them re anodized in gold...

Just need loads of silly money! Or just buy an ES...

Thank you all for taking the time!

Luis

Have you spent the ~$500 to revalve and respring your Gen1 forks?
Yes sir. I have race tech gold valves there. This is research towards a possible new purchase of a gen 3 A model without having to go through the whole electronic suspension system thing that, for what I see, it only entails an electrical motor moving your compression, rebound needle valves and the preload adjuster. As someone pointed out, as in now, difficult rebuild (case I buy a used one). A more traditional (and yet more expensive) approach would be to buy an A model and put in plain sexy USD legs! On a ES model, If the connection to the ES system is not there (disconnected) the bike will not start (someone told me so. So yes... third hand info).

Still looking for ideas... in the meantime the research is fun... My gen I still running strong...
