I'm going to use this thread to plug a book written by a buddy of mine ....

"Essential Guide To Dual Sport Motorcycling" Carl Adams.

Carl's love of dual-sport riding and his willingness to share the fun is a great contribution to the motorcycle community -and I've been the recipient of it ...and now many others can also via this book.

I'm told I've got credit for some of the book's content and pics but I only mention that to boast of bragging rights :)

Seriously, for anyone with an interest in Dual Sport riding, (yes, including fat traillies like the V-Strom, GS etc) ...this book is a "must-have" for the entry level person as well as the seasoned veteran.

The book, now printed and making it's way to distribution will start shipping from Amazon and others in the next week or so. This book can be bought at all the usual places, including Amazon (direct link here clicky) So, you can be the first on your block to have one if you order now. Start an amazon order with this, or add it to other things ...either way the minimal cost is more than worth it.

And, worth noting: The proceeds of this book will NOT go toward buying Carl another mansion, but rather *ALL* proceeds from this book will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation(clicky)

Sidenote: By total coincidence, some of you met Carl during the 2008 WORD! rally, Carl was leading a dual sport ride and staying over at Middlegate for the night ...which is where the mandatory checkpoint of the WORD! rally happened to be. Carl was the one oogling over all the rally bikes asking many many questions -I'm sure many of you recall.

For those groovy enough to buy the book ...please don't be shy about posting your review of it here.

Thanks, RenoJohn; I will order it. And stop calling my GS a "fat trailie"-Mi Mexico Mule is only just pleasantly plump y gordo.

Very cool. I got into riding from watching the Long Way Round and really wanted to get a "fat trailie" but somehow ended up with an fjr.

Can you fit knobbies and the FJR?
