I found one close and try to stop there only.

I have taken to using Marvel Mystery oil in the winter. I am very concerned with ethanol and what it does to our vehicles, both car and bike. And the % can vary, not by law but it happens, and I have seen they want to go to 15%!

Corn Welfare gone terribly wrong!

I would not have a problem if the vehicles were being manufactured to withstand ethanol but I do not believe they have been. It is horrible on rubber composition seals. Not to mention gas mileage.

And we are getting ripped off by paying for 90% gasoline, just because they stick a sign on the pump made it legal. It really sucks and I believe it is a failed program. The mileage drop alone negates any conservation or green effort, except to the welfare recipients and oil companies.

Ethanol Sucks!

rant off

My question is why do some stations have pure gas while most have the "blend". It's obvious that they can get the pure stuff if they want. Is it cheaper for them to buy the blend or does the government them a rebate or something for buying the blended stuff????

At least I've got one close to the garage, and a few others within my normal riding radius...I'm always hesitant to run anything but top tier fuel but it might be worth a couple tank fulls to see if the mileage goes up.

Good find Jim, thanks for the link.

For those of us in Florida, we're ******. We have no choice.

Florida RFS Renewable Fuel Standard - House Bill 7135, Section 103 of the Florida Statutes:

"Beginning December 31, 2010, all gasoline sold or offered for sale in Florida by a terminal supplier, importer, blender, or wholesaler shall be blended gasoline."

All gasoline is a blend of components from 5 or more hydrocarbon families. Its funny that the politicians are thinking that there is gasoline, and blended gasoline which includes ethanol.

Although there are energy content issues associated with ethanol compared to gasoline, and although there are also issues related to the amount of energy it takes to make ethanol compared to the amount you get back when you use it as an IC Engine fuel, probably one of the biggest issues for ethanol is that it drives other volatiles out the gasoline blend, and this makes it harder to start an IC engine. Then there is the issue that it can actually destroy engine fuel system components in higher concentrations.

We can still get top tier gas with no ethanol in our neck of the woods if we're willing to compromise on the NRA boycott of Conoco.

If you don't want to use top tier gas, you could always buy bottle of the fuel injector detergent that BMW will happily sell you as an additive to whatever gasoline you prefer. :D
