Can anyone confirm the 2006 models are already being delivered in Europe? I recall reading this somewhere yesterday and was wondering if the deliveries could be confirmed and what impact that would have on the American models.

I know I've been stopping by my local Yamaha dealer every few weeks to check on the 2006 bikes, it appears as though everything is on schedule. Hopefully the FZ1's start to show up soon, I believe they are next in line to be delivered. They had a few 2006 650 customs there last week fresh off the dock as well as their first 2006 R6. I want to go back and see that bike this week once it has been assembled :)

Aahhhh, I remember those days. Gee, I'm glad I'm no longer a waiter.

If there were any Euro deliveries, trust me, they'd be posted. You might check the "Int'l board", Joos' site. I always come here first, so I haven't been there for a couple of days, but there are enough guys who frequent all the sites.....if one was delivered, it would be Headline News!

I really wouldn't expect the first FJRs to hit the North American soil for another 3 weeks.

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

More like 3 months before they hit these shores.

Mike,

I'm hearing conflicting signals here.

It would appear that a few hundred more detuned motors were built than the French market could absorb (we're talking 108 HP at the crank, so major power difference  ).

I have hard evidence that the engines will be installed in M.Y. 2006 FJR1300AE's in selected markets. The rationale here being that, if you buy a bike with the Y-CCS gizmo you're not likely to know you're 40HP short of a buck  California is a likely such market, as they can always chalk up the power differential to environmental control measures.

Dealers around the world have been instructed to offer free Yammy tankbags and ball-caps to any customers complaining about their detuned motors.

More on this global conspiracy in tomorrow's Washington Post. That's where I'm heading right now with leaked documents from France. :bigglasses: :bigglasses:

PS: Sh*t...I think I'm being followed

You are my new hero! Keep your ears open and your spies busy, and let us know if anything new develops concerning this matter.

All right. Here it is.

I gained access to Yamaha French HQ disguised as a North-African cleaning man.

It turns out the cleaning men here are all French while the whole management team is North-African... Only the big honcho is Japanese.

Dang, think fast Stef...

Thanks to my flawless Arabic (all those hours in front of Al-Jazeera TV paid off big-time B) ) I was appointed Director of Marketing by virtue of France's affirmative action program for Muslim citizens.

That's how I managed to snap this incredible picture. The full specs of the detuned

2006 model. Read this

Puissance maxi. 79,7 kW (108 ch) à 7 500 tr/min

The 108HP engines are still in production! This is an outrage!

There's more: the new YZF-R1SP sports a miserly 106,2HP!

I need to get this info out of the country, fast...

Stef
