helllo all. Changing the oil on my 2007 with 22,500 miles. When l looked underneath, noticed the pipe nearest the oil filter has a slight "bent in" to the shape. Other 3 pipes are smooth cylindrical tubes. Was this from bottom-ing out on a speed bump (which i did once or twice), maybe during shipping, or is everyone's bike built this way?

Thanks in advance for looking underneath yer bike!

Yep, speed bumps will do it everytime. Learned this the hard way on my Gen I... super careful with my Gen II.

I'm a heavy guy, and before I did the adjustments on the suspension, I clipped a speed bump here at the office. Was doing 12 mph. But our speedbumps are designed to slow down SUV weenies and Euro luxury car driving execs. Managed somehow to catch the oil drain plug and bend it. Had to replace the oil pan. :(

I remember when speed bumps only had to get the attention of car drivers, not dweebs driving H2's with "no blood for oil" stickers on the bumper...you didn't have to climb up and down them.

Damned stickers really increase the weight.

Sounds like the Weenies, Euro luxury car driving execs. and dweebs driving H2's won.

Wait till you see the new speed bumps that are the same height but 4 feet wide! It's like riding over 6" high cross walk.

I guarantee it will slow everyone down. AND IT WILL NOT BEND ANY PIPES BECAUSE THE SPEED BUMP IS LONGER THAN ANY BIKE!

I was in Portugal last fall. These seem to describe the speed bumps they use on some public roads in the towns. Didn't hit them as hard as locals with the rental car, but I think they would be better than the bumps they use here.

Purchased bike on a Friday, made the same modification to mine on Monday. Still makes me sick to think about it.

After the forth or fifth time, you won't even think about it. Consumer modification of a factory design flaw.

Ive dinged mine a couple of times but they still seem round. Really, how much of a problem is it if they get a little oval shape to them? I wouldnt think it would cause a problem at least to a certian point.
