Have had my 06fjr for about ten days now and loving it, but due to rains here in SE Mich no can ride, so only got 300 miles so far. Not quite as comfy as my 93 gsx1100G (also a shaftie) but it handles a whole lot better and fuel injection makes cold starts a breeze without fouled plugs. .Can someone tell me the function of the adjustable slats on the fairings. The manual says almost nothing of their purpose.

Someone somewhere discussed this. The side fairing vents move in an out. The vents all the way in are for warm weather riding- when open, supposedly warm air comes to the rider for winter riding.

they are there mostly to bring heat to you - rather than keep cold away. but pehaps it is a combination of the two.

I thought they would deflect cold air away from your legs - and perhaps they do to a degree.

What I found when I opened mine was that they seemed to let more air out of the engine bay and onto my legs than they did when they were closed.

so - OPEN - they are leg warmers. Whether it is by air deflection or because of heat re-routing/escaping or a combination of the two.... I don't know.

either way -- your legs are warmer.

Mine are now closed.

Almost wish they didn't put those there as you can't use this part of the fairing to mount powerlets because they would have to go through both pieces. I guess you could, but then you would lose the adjustability (but then if I didn't have the adjustability I could use the location for powerlets -0 MY HEAD HURTS).

Can't figure it out. I've tried riding mine both ways and it's hard for me to tell, but I think it's actually cooler with the vents open.

Do you think I have a sensitivity problem?
