Fall Foliage Ride(s)

Hey all,

Here is a link to the VA Dept. of Forestry and their estimation sof peak times by region. I know rides were mentioned this weekend, but when I left for work this morning 50 degrees outside made me think of it even more! :cold: Peak VA Foliage

Not quite sure what my schedule will be, but will definitely be interested if available. I am pretty confident that no one will be interested in anything in the green area on the map. Oct 17-18 or 24-25 look like the best bets. If it is good foliage and decent weather I may be up for multiple weekends.

What are everybody's thoughts?

& will keep in touch about CT. Expecting to go up within the next 2 weeks. Get this one... there is a bus that leaves from a few miles from here... goes directly to NY. It leaves @ 11:50 & pulls into Chinatown around 5ish. Some shopping bus called "Everyday Bus to NYC". Very original, don't you think?

Anyway, from there take subway to Penn Station & then Amtrak to Hartford.

Total cost... $65.00. Looking into it seriously.

I was thinking if we did two different trips, one in VA/WV and maybe one later in NC like maybe Boone or Cherahola area. Don't know if Sharon wants to risk another "snake bite"! :blushsmiley:

Bob, the weekend that I am going to CT to pick up my bike has beed decided. I will leave Hampton Roads in 2 weeks on the 15th & returning home on that Sunday... unless I take the long way home which is likely.

Unless this leaf peeping excursion is the weekend after, I expect that I'll be missing the fun. This summer and fall just hasn't been good for me riding-wise or job-wise.

I stayed there on the way to EOM. Nice covered deck with propane heater and mini fridge for the brew. We would have to commit pretty soon as they say they are busy this month, also the rates are up but still not bad.

If we can zero in on a date, I will check availibilty. I am good any WE but the 10-11th.

I am ready - I could plan a route(s) if you like.

Well we have two votes for 24/25. Actually three if 'cuz Heidi will be back rolling! YEAH!! :yahoo: That weekend is good for me as it stands right now.

George, the link looks good and price isn't bad even for double. Question is where do we want to ride? VA/WV or VA/NC. I guess we need to get a consensus.

I've spoken with Ingo & we are discussing riding WV/VA the weekend of 24/25. I'll be going to CT the previous weekend to get the ride. Bob, give me a call if you're still interested in riding back with me. I am still considering taking the long way home... coming down thru PA & into WV. Would much like to have company. Beth and I would like to make this it is only 7hrs from Indy to the Old Clark Inn. I really like the look of the place and the 24/25 is the best for us. How long before we pull the trigger and make reservations? I just spoke with Andrea at the Old Clark Inn and at this moment they have 9 rooms available 4 with queen bed private bath for 77$ and then 6 others some with own bath some with shared. 3 or so have 2 beds in the room. She was nice enough to pencil Beth and I in with the promise that I would call her on Friday and let her know one way or the other.

I won't be able to make this as I already have out of state trips planned for the weekends that bookend this one...but it looks like a great time! Thanks for posting that link BTW, I'll think I'll give them a try the next time I am planning to be in the neighborhood...

I'd really like to say that I'll be staying at a hotel with everyone, but since I'm in the position that I'm in, I will be trying to bum an evening stay with some buds... you know who you are if'n you read this.
