It looks like the Briar is going to be a better choice all the way around. Ingo has talked to them and they have plenty of rooms available for the evening of 10/24. $69 for 2 queens. Cheaper is better, so I am calling it for the Briar. I will be calling for a reservation shortly.

Called the Brier Inn and made my reservations. The base rate for two queens is $69, but there is a $5 charge if you have a second person in the room. Still a bit cheaper than the OCI.

I told them that there will be other people calling. You can mention my name so they can group our rooms together.

Also called the OCI to cancel my hold on the room there.

I made my reservation at the Briar. She Put me on the first floor near Ingo. She said there are plenty of rooms available in the area if anyone else is interested. Now that we have those logistics out of the way, who is going to take care of the weather???

So, now I have to ride all those extra miles down 219. Oh well, I guess if it has to be done. :specool:

I like the Brier, so I guess I'll leave my tent and electric heater at home. I'll be there Friday through Monday. I'll see if I can dig up the routes from previous EOMs there.

Geezer,

I still have the routes from last years EOM. If you can't find them I can email them to you. Since you will be there on Friday and staying through Monday, you'll have plenty of time to ride some of them.

You can leave the electric heater at home, but bring your heated gear if you have it. The mornings can be pretty chilly this time of the year.

46 degrees here this morning. I don't have either jacket or pants liner in yet. Arms were a little chilled, but still not that bad. If I put the liners in I'll bet I would be good to freezing. I bought a new pair of insulated gloves this week to round out the cool weather gear. :cold:

I don't have electric gear, but I'll switch out my mesh pants for the solid ones and put a hoodie on under my jacket. Probably need some anti-freeze for the evening tire kicking sessions. :drinks:

I'll bring the Maker's Mark. Ingo, did you drink it yet? :bad:

Are you guys thinking about the Brier Inn in Lewisburg?.

Before I saw this thread I was planning a ride up to WV the same weekend with a friend. He has a a BMW R1100R. We were going to ride to WV Friday, ride Saturday, and return home on Sunday, all twisty stuff. I will probably try to get the same motel.

You got that right.

Nope, it is still sitting here. I have been drinking Jameson lately.

But, if you bring it I will drink. :yahoo: Maybe just not as excessive.

For what it's worth, I just this afternoon was up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and rode from 215 to 278 which is near Brevard. This appears to me to be a mixed colors year. I saw quite a few bright reds, but when I reached Graveyard Fields, the colors looked like they had already peaked. On the way up to the parkway I went thru zones where the yellows were changing from green to yellow. Bottom line is that this weekend and the weekend following will likel be the peak of color change on this end of the parkway.......my $0.02 worth.

The Brier it is. A shame the OCI didn't work out but thanks for working this out.

So the next plan is to meet up to ride. You just want to do what we did this summer and meet at Ducks Corner (??) and ride over?

Here is a sneak peak form my past Tues. Ride

George, I talked to Bob and Duckies it is.

Bob, I'll be carrying some Jameson :D

Grumpy, thanks for the update. I also got a feeling that this year the colors changed a bit earlier than last year. Oh well, if we miss the peak it'll still be a good ride.

If we miss it we miss it. I don't care if the friggin trees are bare that weekend as long as the weather is suitable to ride! :derisive:

Bob thanks for the voicemail we booked the Briar.Nate
Looking forward to meeting you and your wife!

Bob, I'll be carrying some Jameson :D

So you did the smoke hole again? Nice pic George!

OK. It looks like 10 A.M. at Ducks Corner in Buckingham, VA on 10/24. I would guess we could go with the plans from the last trip down and head out 56 and hit the truck stop in Raphine for lunch.

Heidi, do you still have the route that you planned for the last trip?

Bob,

If Heidi doesn't, I still have the route that we had planned for Saturday and Sunday.

We did a tune up ride in the cool am air yesterday to ensure comfort for the upcoming ride. We were also interested to see what stage the colors were at. Suprised to see that there hasn't been a lot of change. I sure didn't see the color that George showed from the Smoke Hole pictures. What a great ride we had, though. Fort Valley Road south from Front Royal.

All geared up:
