My first car was a '65 Fairlane 4-door, three-on-the-tree. It had been sitting in the grass at my grandparents mobile-home park for some time, my grandfather found the neighbor that owned it and bought it for $500. He let me make $50/month payments until it was paid for. The paint was awful, the seats were torn, but its 289 ran like a champ. I put seat covers over the tears, leather steering wheel wrap, chrome wheel covers, jacked up the back a bit, and put a floor shifter in. I also had one of those FM-converters to save me from listening to AM. Great first car.
