I have a 2007 FJR and have never heard the fan come on... The hottest that the bike has been is about 6 bars and I just ran it up to there and verified that the fans are engaged.

At what point are the fans supposed to kick in on 2006 and 2007 models?

I purchased an 06 two months ago and notice the same thing. It was about 55 degrees and I was at our "Kause for Kids" ride (saw huron52 there too) which ended as a crawling parade for about 20 minutes (stop and go). I got a bit concerned seeing the temp bars reaching the top third of the scale.

There were lots of cruisers with very loud pipes there so I really couldn't hear the fans even if they were running. As soon as we started moving forward the temp dropped a couple of ticks, but I was planning to test it in warmer weather to ensure that the fans were actually engaging to cool the system.

Has anyone with an 06 or newer tested this with their own rides?

The fans should kick in at 8 bars. Hot days in south Florida, my fans kick on at stop lights. Never had more than 8 bars. The fans do a great job cooling.

On my Generation I bike the fan with come on once the temp reaches 4 bars and then shuts off once the temps comes back to three bars....

Will continue to do this until you increase flow of air past the rad(ride the darn thing) or shut the bike off.
