Just completed a Far Ride, the Oz version of Iron Butt (sanctioned and approved) on my 2001 FJR. Awesome!

Even though starter motor failed day before departure. Go, or no go ? Of course i went!

Had some pretty good mates to push start me throughout the fast pace 24 hours.

Few 'hoppers ' (kangaroos) at night - guy on a 'wing just bounced one off - guess there' some value in a fat gold wing after all!

And a few wombats (mobile speed bumps - look like large naked hairy bikers lying on the road - wikipedia?)

Met a great bunch of pretty unusual guys and saw some awesome long distance bikes - plenty of feejers.

And some great fast rides coming down from the alpine region to the coast - queabeyan/cooma/cann river - look it up !

A speeding ticket costs $330 - I,ll take 3, thanks officer

Reputed to be one of the best rides in Oz.

Probably even better with a starter motor.

Come over and have a go, you guys!

FJR is THE bike for this sort of stuff - even if it's 9 years old!

Good job! Any map links to see where you went?

Odd, your link directs me to some Disney movie page???

An old FJR rider was on his way to a town about 100 miles away at 'FJR nominal' when he was stopped by an LEO and issued a citation for speeding.

He said, "Are going to be here, patrolling, this afternoon?"

The officer replied, "Yes, I am."

The FJR rider said, "Well, you may as well write me out another one -- 'cuz I'll be coming back this way in a few hours." ;)

If I could get 3 weeks in a row from work and find a less expensive way to ship the bike I bet it would be worth the trip. Not sure how you get insurance for a bike from the states down under.
