Over the hill--and going faster!
I was so saddened to hear that Alan Rickman died today.
I remember him in so many great roles and I didn't see them all!
Hans Gruber, the sociopath in "Die Hard!"
Colonel Brandon, the steady faithful reliable suitor in "Sense and Sensability"
The Metatron, the grouchy, seedy, sardonic angel who is the voice of the Almighty in "Dogma"
Alexander Dane, aka, "Dr. Lazarus", the whiny, egotistical actor who HATES playing the alien role in "Galaxy Quest" "I played Richard the III and got 5 curtain calls!"
And, of course, Professor Severus Snape, the mean, sadistic, heartbroken, but ultimately heroic tormentor of Harry Potter.
Snape might have tormented Harry, but Rickman was the first adult actor on HP to treat Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton as fellow actors, not children and stayed friends with them, even after.
"What are you going to do...Hit me with that fish?"
