WHAT !! No Fendaextenda... what a slacker ! :D
It's there. Puts the glasses back on. :D

Actually, this is the one phantom farkle on the list, sorry. :p
Well, I didn't catch this, but it's obvious once you realize that there is no pillion seat. Very cool.

I have a pretty short list of farkles and several times I told myself that I was installing the last one, but something else always come along that I just have to add. I'll bet that you're going to come out of retirement sooner than you think to install that new something-or-other.
Perhaps not so obvious. For my upcoming trip I'm not using the fuel cell. I have the Sargent pillion seat on with the audiovox servo hidden inside. I've had some trouble with the cell flow and need to resolve that before I'll use it on a long trip. I also have too much luggage--big pillion bag plus big duffle for camera gear plus laptop. Not sure if I'll take the portable fridge.

Happy Farkling,

Ahh the invisible kind,, same as the pillion seat ??

Huh? What's invisible in this photo?
The Fenda extenda. I think those are BMW grips by the way.
Yes, indeedee you are observant. Those WERE BMW grips, but I switched those out a few month ago. Saw some new ergo friendly grips in one of the mags and tried them. I'll be posting updated pics in the next few days weather permitting.

HOLY SH_T! I just got the point. Where's my fendaextenda? It's the mystery farkle. It was one of my first additions more than a year ago. I guess the buggar fell off at some point and I was too asleep to notice it. I can't imagine that, but I cannot deny that it's missing. I just checked in the garage in disbelief!!!

OY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bet it's gone because you followed the flock and only glued it. See where the "look Ma no screws" thing got you?

About that CB radio for Wingers thing.....

You might want to reconsider just how much MORE you'll need that Kennood as opposed to a good working CB. Ya know, them 18 wheelers sure come in handy letting you know where them Bears are. ;)

Radar detector is useless on the PA Tpk. CB is the only way to let you know there's one waiting for you 10 miles up the road.

Good luck on the trip. And keep it vertical or you'll be back to farkling all over again.

See ya back in Jersey!

Word! Them truckers KNOW! ;)

Mogan,

Did you lower the FJR is is it an illusion?

What is the ****-hot CB setup?

Don't know if it is the one you are referring to or not but several of us have the J & M CB setup. Personally I also have the J & M audio intergation module also. It allows GPS, radar detector, music, cell phone, etc to operate through the helmet mike & earphones as well. Not cheap & your Escort 8500 will need to be modified (by J & M) to operate with the system.

HandleBar Unit Photo

After I bought & installed my unit I understand that J & M came out with a mount specifically for the FJR. Mine is not that mount but rather one that they had available at the time. I don't recall which bike it was designed for.

Antenna Rear View

Antenna Side View

I obtained the CB antenna at a truck stop & fabricated the mount, They are not J & M.

J & M Link

For the record, J & M tech support seems to be pretty careful with infomation on the telephone but they will work with you if you need something modified. The only downside is having to take it off & send it to them. Lots of wiring to hide in the fairing, etc.

I would get the system again

PS I am not affiliated in any way with J & M. Only a customer.

Best of luck.

Gluing it isn't the problem, surface prep and use of sufficient fixative usually is. I glued my first one, and it came off during a highway run. Looking at the fender surface later, I could tell I hadn't prepped the surface right, and had used too little glue. The second one is still going strong over a year later with 15K miles so far.

Mogan,

Great thread! Sounds like an awesome trip - good luck and keep the rubber side down. ;)

"Hi, my name is Mogan, and I am a Farkler-holic..." :D

Well, ladies and gentlemen, this post is a major milestone for me. I have an '05 with ABS and today marks my official retirement as a farkler.
With this week's successful install of an Audiovox cruise control I am confident I now have the most farkled FJR on the entire planet. Several of you have pointed out that this is not necessarily an honorable accomplishment, especially in light of the low miles on my bike (4,000). I did not attend WFO this year because I heard rumors that I would be lynched due to my low miles/high farkle ratio.

Now that there's nothing left to add and no room if there was, I am switchin gears to RIDING. I leave next week for a 5 week, 8,000 mile North American adventure. I'll provide good info upon my return (and perhaps a blog along the way).

If the trip is successful, I'll do something like this each year.

I have to repeat a warm thanks to all contributors on this forum and a special thanks to the wrencheads that made all of this farkling possible.

Mogan

Master Farkler, Retired

Yeah, I just glued the buggar. Can't figure out how it fell off without my knowing it, though... :(

And lots of them please. :D

If you can, please post an image of your route, dinners on me if you swing by my hometown.
I took some updated pics of the machine - pre-packing. :)

The H.A.R.D. system radar alert hooks into your radar detector and gives you a visual signal inside your helmet rather than having to listen for the audio signal. It's a real plus because the radar audio otherwise interrupts music, GPS, etc.

You can get it at cycle gadgets. https://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/?cat=ELECT

The GPS mount is also a nice item and quite common. It's from Touratech and those German sure now how to make a rugged mount. Other mounts are good too, but this one is tops for it's shock-absorbing abilities. You can get it in two levels of shock absorption and with or without a keyed lock.

Happy farkling!
