I was checking on some insurance coverage (for my truck) and received a very good price from Farmer's Insurance, anyone have any experience with them?

I had Farmer's Insurance for years, for auto, home, and bikes. But when I purchased my Super Tenere recently they didn't seem to be able to get a rate for it that seemed reasonable. So the S-T is with somebody else and the FJR stayed with Farmer's. But on my most recent Farmer's renewal my agent claimed that Farmer's no longer directly insure bikes and they now do it through Foremost. Pricing is still good.

I've never had a bike claim so have no experience in that area. The only thing that ever bothered me about Farmer's is they would never provide in writing the exact amount of coverage on accessories that would be covered. When I pressed they simply said everything would be covered. This concerned me since my FJR has some $10k in farkles (no, I'm not kidding) and I wanted to make sure anything lost or damaged in an incident would be covered. Thankfully I've never had to find out. YMMV of course.

I permanently crossed Farmer's off my list 12 years ago after they jacked us around on a claim. Unfortunately the other party, who was at fault, was also insured by Farmer's and they(Farmer's) did everything they could to not pay. Add in a relatively unusual car to repair (Taurus SHO) and it was a complete mess - we had a rental for 78 days. I will not do business with them ever again.

Agree

Was a great policy..........right up to the day of the storm damage (Home Owers Policy)

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the feedback.

I checked with a few local insurance companies, and at this time it appears that Progressive comes in with a better rate and lately it seems most people have had positive results in teh event of a claim. (Hoping not to go there!)

I have Foremost, which is owned by Farmers and generaly does their motorcycle coverage. When my FJR went down a couple months ago on I 90 they treated me like a king! Fast service! They agreed to pay list price for my helmet and jacket even though the jacket had a hole in the pocket less then one centimeter in diameter. They agreed to pay $9,500.00 for my 06 FJR AE with 23,000 miles, Heli extenders< MCL highway pegs and Givi bracket.

I flew to Atlanta not long ago and bought a members 06 with Russel Day Long, PIAA lights, Power Comander III, Wild Bill pegs, Cee Bailey long screen, Gerauld Luggage Rack, Back Off light, new tires and only 16,000 miles, for $7,000.00.

I got a bike with less miles, lots more options and $2,500.00 cash in hand from Foremost for the accident!!

I'm sure that your mileage may vary with any insurance company, but I have to give them a giant thumbs up :yahoo:

In the business I am in (auto claims litigation) I have done work with them (Farmers). I do not work for them, nor do I get paid by them, my experience is with their claims personnel and I have to say my experiences have been positive.

I just purchased a 2014 FJR and got Foremost ins, had them on my Harleys as well..... sorry, no experience at claims but full coverage including replacement, under and un-insured for $389 a year. North Texas 55 yrs old with 36+ years experience.

I have Farmer's for my Truck house and Bike and they generally have treated me well. They did try to screw me on a claim for hail damage but agreed to my price since it would be impossible to match-up 1950's siding and since then my house insurance rates have been jacked up but I can't get a better rate. (house is over 100 years old)
