I dropped my FJR off the centerstand about 9 months ago. I am in the process of getting the cosmetic damage fixed finally. I remember reading something about a fault code triggered when a certain lean angle is exceeded, i.e. when the bike falls on its side? Can anyone tell me how to go about reading stored codes and then clearing them?

Thanks,

Todd

I know there is a sensor that effectively shuts the engine off if you exceed a certain lean angle. I believe it shuts the power off to the fuel pump. I don't know of any fault code being set by this.

Exactly, and I have the same thing on my new to me '03 XX according to its service manual. On each, you turn the key off to clear it, turn it back on and you're good to go again.

This may be what you're looking for. I saved this from an EZ Board post (IIRC) in case I ever needed it. I have never had the need for it and I post it here w/out any verification. Maybe someone else can verify. Anyone???

Tip over code

Have the key turned off and press the select and reset together. Turn the key to on and hold the buttons for about 8 seconds. A screen will apear that reads d1 AG. release the buttons. Then press them both together again for 2 seconds. Another screen will apear with a number on the right. release the buttons again. Make sure the kill switch is on.(for running operation)use either the select button or the reset button to scroll thru the numbers. High number is 70. You are looking for number 61. If you see a 0 at the bottom right then there are no trouble codes. However if you see a number 30 that is the code for an over turned motorcycle. If you have the code 30 and want to erase it. Press the select button and go to number 62. This is the erase code number. Then turn the kill switch off, then back on again. This will erase this and any other codes stored in the memory. Then turn the key off to go back to normal operations. If you have any more codes I suggest you order the big book from FJR Goodies to problem solve or take it to your dealer. Good luck

OK -- you guys have me baffled. I dropped my bike off the sidestand very early after I got it and had the tip over function require me to turn the key off before I could restart the bike (though the starter will crank).

So . . . what exactly is the symptom that this fault code clearance procedure alleviates? I've noticed nothing unusual in the months or miles since my tip over. Maybe I'm just inattentive?

As far as I know, the only "symptom" that this fault code clearance alleviates is that your dealer will never know the bike has been on it's side...FWIW.

Exactly.

In addtion, if I am going to spend the $$$ to fix everything the right way I want to know the ENTIRE job is complete.
