I was listening to music, with a scotch, and thought about what my favorite lyric was.

There are so many good ones but these two seem to resonate with me

One of my favorite's is

"Whiskey Bottles, Brand new cars, oak tree your're in my way" Lynyrd Skynyrd

another is

"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

The Eagles

What are some of yours?

Some are born to move the world to live their fantasy

But most of us just dream about the things we'd like to be

Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it

For you the blind who once could see..the bell tolls for thee.

Rush...(Neil Peart)

"It's just spend a buck, to make a buck

You don't really give a flying ****

about the people in misery." --Bruce Cockburn

"Life is one big road with lots of signs,

So when you riding through the

ruts, don't you complicate

your mind:

Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!

Don't bury your thoughts; put your

vision to reality, yeah!" -- Bob Marley

"Seen a lot of things in the world outside

Some bad but some good stuff too

Felt the touch of love in the works of God

And now and then in what people do

Never had a lot of faith in human beings

But sometimes we manage to shine

Like a light on a hill beaming out to space

From somewhere hard to find

Great big love

Sweeping across the sky

I ride and I shoot and I play guitar

And I like my life just fine

If you try to take one of these things from me

Then you're no friend of mine

Got a woman I love and she loves me

And we live on a piece of land

I never know quite how to measure these things

But I guess I'm a happy man" --Bruce Cockburn (Sorry, couldn't break that one up)

You know...I could go on and on...so many people have so many different ways of looking at things. I guess we all need the poet that lets us see things in a new way than from what we have before. We also need some to help us see we aren't alone in our thougts.

"and what if there are

no damsels in distress

what if i knew that

and i called your bluff

don't you think every kitten

figures out how to get down

whether or not you ever show up" -- Ani Difranco

"When I build my little cabin with a sky window above the bed

So I can sleep with Orion in the middle of the winter

Maybe you will visit me, we can cook a slow soup" -- Greg Brown

"John Muir walked away into the mountains

in his old overcoat a crust of bread in his pocket

we have no knowledge and so we have stuff and

stuff with no knowledge is never enough to get you there

it just won't get you there

a culture exploded into knickknacks and memories

Eagle and Bear trinkets I don't think it's good

old man what am I trying to say it's a

it's a messed up world but I love it anyway" - Greg Brown

"children they don't need a lot of stuff

children sure do need a lot of love

they need love to give them pride

to make them feel real good inside

if they don't get it at home they're going to go looking" --Greg Brown

"In the town neon flickers in the ruins

Seven crows swoop past the luscious moon

If I had wings like those there'd be no waiting

I'd come panting to your door and slide like smoke into your room" --Bruce Cockburn

"Rainbow steps, jerking universe

Goodbye, man-in-time

And just beyond the clatter and cars the last long notes of wild voices ring

Like Roland's horn" -- Bruce Cockburn

"Did I ask too much

More than a lot

You gave me nothing

Now it's all I got

We're one

But we're not the same

Well we

Hurt each other

Then we do it again

You say

Love is a temple

Love a higher law

Love is a temple

Love the higher law

You ask me to enter

But then you make me crawl

And I can't be holding on

To what you got

When all you got is hurt" U2 - Bono

"Flee from the city

It's getting shitty

It is full of out-a-quity(Inequity)" -- Peter Tosh

"I come from memphis where I learned to talk the jive,

When I get back to memphis be one less man alive.

Good morning mr. benson, I see youre doing well,

If I had me a shotgun Id blow you straight to hell." --Jerry Garcia

okay...I really could go on an on...there are so many things said, so many profound thoughts shared, just remember this:

"Six blade knife

Do anything for you" --Mark Knopfler

"I know I'm stupid so I must be smarter than you." Rehab

"She stole my heart in the trailer park

So I jacked the keys to her fuckin' car

And crashed that piece of shit

And then stepped away..." Rehab

Everyone would gather, on the 24th of May

Sitting in the sand to watch the fire, watch it play

Dancing, fires on the beach, singing songs together

Though it's just a memory, some memories last forever

The song "Flakes", Frank Zappa. Reminds me of some of you left coasters :****:

Too many Rush tunes to post

I hate to see her go, but I sure like watching her leave :dribble:

And

I see, a baboon ridin', CCR

"I stuck around St. Petersburg

When I saw it was a time for a change

Killed the Czar and his ministers

Anastasia screamed in vain

I rode a tank

Held a general's rank

When the blitzkrieg raged

And the bodies stank

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name, oh yeah

Ah, what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game, oh yeah "

Anything from rush or yes. There is a passage in a book called "and the ass saw the angel". From some rocknroll dude....forget his name. Page 206. Kick ass lyrics. The whole book is intriguing.

The lyrics from " sunday morning comin down" by Chris Christoferson. Sung by Johnny Cash. Don't know why but for some reason I can really relate to them.

Helter skelter in a summer swelter.

The birds flew off with a fallout shelter,

Eight miles high and falling fast.

It landed foul on the grass.

The players tried for a forward pass,

With the jester on the sidelines in a cast.

(Don McLean - American Pie)

Lyrics for Song: Uneasy Rider

I was takin a trip out to L.A.

Toolin along in my cheverolet

Tokin on a number and diggin on the radio

Just as I crossed the Mississippi line

I heard that highway start to whine

And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow

Well the spare was flat and I got uptight

Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight

So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim

I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car

It was right in front of this little bar

Kind of a red-neck lookin joint called the Dew Drop Inn

I stuffed my hair up under my hat

And told the bartender that I had a flat

And ywould he be kind enough to give me change for a one

There was one thing I was sure proud to see

There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me

He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone

I called up the station down the road a ways

He said he wasn't very busy today

And he could have somone out there in just about 10 minutes or so

He said," Now, you just stay right where yer at!"

And I didn't bother to tell the darn fool

That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go

So I ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar

When some guy walked in and said, "Who owns this car

With the peace sign, the mag wheels and the four on the floor?"

He looked at me and I damn near died

And I decided that I'd just wait outside

So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door

Just when I wthought I'd get outta there with my skin

These 3 big dudes come strollin in

With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth

Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight

In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night

Especially when there was three of them and only one of me

I was almost to the door when the biggest one

Said, "You tip your hat to this lady, son!"

And when I did, all that hair fell out from underneath

They all started laughin and I felt kinda sick

And I knew I better think of something pretty quick

So I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee

Now he let out a yell that'd curl yer hair

But before he could move I grabbed me a chair

And said "Now watch him Folks cause he's a fairly dangerous man!"

"You may not know it but this man is a spy.

He's a undercover agent for the FBI

And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan!"

He was still bent over holdin on to his knee

But everybody else was looking and listening to me

And I laid it on thicker hand heavier as I went

"He's a friend of them long haired, hippy-type, pinko fags!

I betchya he's even got a commie flag

tacked up on the wall inside of his garage."

"He's a snake in the grass, I tell ya guys.

He may look dumb but that's just a disguise,

He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage"

"Would you believe this man has gone as far

As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars.

And he voted for George McGovern for President."

They started lookin real suspicious at him

He jumped up and said "Now just wait a minute Jim!

You know he's lying I been living here all of my life!"

"I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch

And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church.

And I aint even got a garage, you can call home and ask my wife!"

Then he started saying somethin bout the way I was dressed

But I didn't wait around to hear the rest

I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck

When I hit the door I was making tracks

And they were just taking my car down off the jacks

So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in and fired that mother up

Mario Andretti wouldda sure been proud

Of the way I was movin when I passed that crowd

Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trott

Now I guess I should of gone ahead and run

But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun

Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot

I had them all out there steppin and fetchin

Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catchin

then I figgered I had better go ahead and split before the cops got there

When I hit the road I was really wheelin

Had gravel flyin and rubber squeelin

And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas

I think I'm gonna reroute my trip

I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped

If I went to L.A., via Omaha

Translation:

We are driving on the Autobahn

In front of us is a wide valley

The sun is shining with glittering rays

The driving strip is a grey track

White stripes, green edge

Now we're switching the radio on

From the speaker it sounds:

- Kraftwerk, 1974

Of course there's the classic:

She was comin' round the corner doin' 90

When the chain on her motorcycle broke

She was layin' in the grass

With the kickstand up her ***

And her **** were playing Wipe Out on the spokes!
