"Rocky Top, you will always be, home sweet home to me.......

Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennesse"

Of course I like it even more of it is played incessantly during a football game!

Best ever, C.W. McCall!

Well I kicked the tire and then got in the seat

And set on a petrified apple core

And found a bunch of field mice livin' in the glove compartment

He says "her shaft is bent and the rear end leaks

You can fix 'er quick with an oily rag

Use a nail to start her, I lost the key

Don't pay no mind to that whirin' sound

She'll use a little oil, but outside of that she's a cherry."

Wolf Creek Pass

Well Earl grabbed on the shifter

And he stabbed her into fifth gear

And then the chromium plated, fully illuminated

Genuine ac-cessory shift knob

Come right off in his hand

I says "you wana screw that thing back on Earl ?"

He was tryin' to thread it on there

When the fire fell off a his cigar

And dropped on down sorta rolled around

And lit the cuff of Earls pants

And burnt a whole in his sock

Yeah it sorta set him right on fire.

Memorable, because on it's third play, my Father gave an impressive tutorial on turntable removal via tonearm leverage from a RCA console stereo.

Very amusing, and a life changing event. ;)

Good lyrics should paint a picture...

And I would open the door and I'd be all wet

With my **** soaking through this tiny little t-shirt

That I'm wearing and you would open the door

And tie me up to the bed.

(Paula Cole)

Now, that's a picture. ;)

Wanna piss off the the wife? Put some of this on her Ipod :)

You uppity women I don't understand

Why you gotta go and try to act like a man,

But before you make your weekly visit to the shrink

You'd better occupy the kitchen, liberate the sink.

Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed

That's what I to my baby said,

Women's liberation is a-going to your head,

Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed.

Harry Chapin A Better Place to Be Lyrics

A Better Place To Be Lyrics

It was an early morning bar room,

And the place just opened up.

And the little man come in so fast and

Started at his cup.

And the broad who served the whisky

She was a big old friendly girl.

And she tried to fight her empty nights

By smilin' at the world.

And she said "Hey Bub, It's been awhile

Since you been around.

Where the hell you been hidin' ?

And why you look so down ?"

But the little man just sat there like he'd never heard a sound.

The waitress she gave out with a cough,

And acting not the least put off,

She spoke once again.

She said, "I don't want to bother you,

Consider it's understood.

I know I'm not no beauty queen,

But I sure can listen good."

And the little man took his drink in his hand

And he raised it to his lips.

He took a couple of sips.

And he told the waitress this story.

"I am the midnight watchman down at Miller's Tool and Die.

And I watch the metal rusting, and I watch the time go by.

A week ago at the diner I stopped to get a bite.

And this here lovely lady she sat two seats from my right.

And Lord, Lord, Lord she was alright.

"Well, she was so damned beautiful she could warm a winter's frost.

But she was long past lonely, and well nigh kinda lost.

Now I'm not much of a mover, or a pick-em-up easy guy,

But I decided to glide on over, and give her one good try.

And Lord, Lord, Lord she was worth a try.

"I was Tongued-tied like a school boy, and I stammered out some words.

But it did not seem to matter much, 'cause I don't think she heard.

She just looked clear on through me to a space back in my head.

And it shamed me into silence, as quietly she said,

'If you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me.

Cause I know I'm going nowhere, and anywhere's a better place to be.

Anywhere's a better place to be.'

"I drove her to my boarding house, and I took her up to my room.

And I went to turn on the only light to brighten up the gloom.

But she said, 'Please leave the light off, Oh I don't mind the dark.'

And as her clothes all tumbled 'round her, I could hear my heart.

The moonlight SHONE upon her as she lay back in my bed.

It was the kind of scene I only had imagined in my head.

I just could not believe it, to think that she was real.

And as I tried to tell her she said 'Shhh.. I know just how you feel.

And if you want to come here with me, then that's all right with me.

'Cause I've been oh so lonely, lovin' someone is a better way to be.

anywhere's a better way to be.'

"The morning came so swiftly as I held her in my arms.

But she slept like a baby, snug and safe from harm.

I did not want to share her or dare to break the mood,

So before she woke I went out to buy us both some food.

"I came back with my paper bag, to find that she was gone.

She'd left a six word letter saying 'It's time that I moved on.'"

The waitress took her bar rag, and she wiped it across her eyes.

And as she spoke her voice came out as something like a sigh.

She said "I wish that I was beautiful, or that you were halfway blind.

And I wish I weren't so god-damned fat, I wish that you were mine.

And I wish that you'd come with me, when I leave for home.

For we both know all about loneliness, and livin' all alone."

And the little man,

Looked at the empty glass in his hand.

And he smiled a crooked grin,

He said, " I guess I'm out of gin.

And know we both have been so lonely.

And if you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me.

'Cause I know I'm goin' nowhere and anywhere's a better place to be."

The wheel is turning and you can't slow down

You can't let go and you can't hold on

You can't go back and you can't stand still

If the thunder don't get ya then the lightening will

Small wheel turns by the fire and rod

Big wheel turns by the Grace of God

Everytime that wheel turns 'round

You're bound to cover just a little more ground

Anything by Bob Dylan especially;

The ghost of electricity howls from the bones of her face (Visions of Johanna)

There must be some kind of way out of here

There's to much confusion here

The plow man digs my earth

From "the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"...

...

When supper time came the old cook came on deck

Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya

At 7PM a main hatchway caved in

He said fellas it's been good to know ya.

The Captain wired in he had water coming in

And the good ship and crew was in peril

And later that night when his lights went out of sight

Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Everyone would gather, on the 24th of MaySitting in the sand to watch the fire, watch it play

Isn't it'''watch the fireworks display", not "fire, watch it play"?

Now isn't the the truth? Definitely not easy to pick up words to some of their songs. But hey, you were darn close!!! Which is better than I can say for my knowledge of any song made after about 1994.

Translation:

We are driving on the Autobahn

In front of us is a wide valley

The sun is shining with glittering rays

The driving strip is a grey track

White stripes, green edge

Now we're switching the radio on

From the speaker it sounds:

Gunny on Kraftwerk and "Hotel California".

How about: "Sweet Hitchahiker, won'tcha ride on my fast machine?"-CCR

warren zevon, "keep me in your heart for a while"

"Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath

Keep me in your heart for awhile

If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less

Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun

Keep me in your heart for awhile

There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sometimes when you're doing simple things

around the house

Maybe you'll think of me and smile

You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on

your blouse

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams

Touch me as I fall into view

When the winter comes keep the fires lit

And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream

Keep me in your heart for awhile

These wheels keep turning but they're running out

of steam

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo

Keep me in your heart for awhile

Keep me in your heart for awhile"

He said I was in my early forties

with a lot of life before me

when a moment came that stopped me on a dime

and I spent most of the next days

looking at the x-rays

Talking bout the options

and talking bout sweet time

I asked him when it sank in

that this might really be the real end

how's it hit you when you get that kinda news

man what'd you do

and he said

I went sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu

and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband

that most the time I wasn't

and I became a friend a friend would like to have

and all the sudden going fishin

wasn't such an imposition

and I went three times that year I lost my dad

well I finally read the good book

and I took a good long hard look

at what I'd do if I could do it all again

and then

I went sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu

and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about

what'd you do with it what did you do with it

what did I do with it

what would I do with it?

Sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu

and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I watched an eagle as it was flying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

Some choice ones from Mark Knopfler

"Church bell clinging on trying to get a crowd for Evensong

Nobody cares to depend upon the chime it plays

They're all in the station praying for trains

Cogregations late again

It's getting darker all the time these flagpole days

Drunk old soldier he gives her a fright

He's crazy lion howling for a fight."

"Mother Mary your children are slaughtered

Some of you mothers ought to lock up your daughters

Who's protecting the innocenti

Heap big trouble in the land of plenty

Tell me how we're gonna do what's best

You guess once upon a time in the west"

"And then you get an artist says he doesn't want to paint at all

He takes an empty canvas and sticks it on the wall

The birds of a feather all the phonies and all of the fakes

While the dealers they get together

And they decide who gets the breaks

And who's going to be in the gallery'

"she took off a silver locket she said remember me by this

she put her hand in my pocket i got a keepsake and a kiss

and in the roar of the dust and diesel i stood and watched her walk away

i could have caught up with her easy enough but something must have made me stay

and the big wheel keep on turning neon burning up above

and i'm just high on the world

come on and take a low ride with me girl

on the tunnel of love"

"And your new Romeo

was just a gigolo when he let you down

see the faster they are babe

the faster they get out of town

leaving make up stains and the tears

of a clown

yes and it never rains around here

it just comes pouring down

...

Ah but it's a sad reminder

when your organ grinder has to come to you for the rent

and all you've got to give him

is the use of your side-show tent"

This Road I'm On

She said lifes a lot to think about sometimes

When youre living in between the lines

And all the stars are sparkling, shine everyday

He said lifes so hard to move in sometimes

When it feels like Im in the line

And no one even cares to ask me why I feel this way

And I know you feel helpless now, and I know you feel, hold on

Thats the same road, the same road that Im on, yeah

He said lifes a lot to think about sometimes

When you keep it on between the lines

And everything I want and I want to find one of these days

But what you thought was real in life

Oh, it somehow steer you wrong

And now you just keep trying and trying to find out where you belong

And I know you feel helpless now, and I know you feel, hold on

Thats the same road, the same road that Im on

What you thought was real in life, somehow steer you wrong

And now you just keep trying and trying to find where you belong

I know you feel helpless now, I know you feel, hold on

Thats the same, the same road that Im on

OK...here's one for anyone that's had a close, or WAY too close encounter with a cage.

Son of a *****, he cut me off!

Three whole lanes he pulled across

Made me mad. Made me swerve.

Son of a ***** got what he deserved.

I pulled up behind him

Pulled out my pistol

Blew 'em away.

Charlie Daniels Lyrics for Song: Uneasy Rider

I was takin a trip out to L.A.

Toolin along in my cheverolet

Tokin on a number and diggin on the radio

Just as I crossed the Mississippi line

I heard that highway start to whine

And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow

Well the spare was flat and I got uptight

Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight

So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim

I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car

It was right in front of this little bar

Kind of a red-neck lookin joint called the Dew Drop Inn

I stuffed my hair up under my hat

And told the bartender that I had a flat

And ywould he be kind enough to give me change for a one

There was one thing I was sure proud to see

There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me

He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone

I called up the station down the road a ways

He said he wasn't very busy today

And he could have somone out there in just about 10 minutes or so

He said," Now, you just stay right where yer at!"

And I didn't bother to tell the darn fool

That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go

So I ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar

When some guy walked in and said, "Who owns this car

With the peace sign, the mag wheels and the four on the floor?"

He looked at me and I damn near died

And I decided that I'd just wait outside

So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door

Just when I wthought I'd get outta there with my skin

These 3 big dudes come strollin in

With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth

Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight

In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night

Especially when there was three of them and only one of me

I was almost to the door when the biggest one

Said, "You tip your hat to this lady, son!"

And when I did, all that hair fell out from underneath

They all started laughin and I felt kinda sick

And I knew I better think of something pretty quick

So I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee

Now he let out a yell that'd curl yer hair

But before he could move I grabbed me a chair

And said "Now watch him Folks cause he's a fairly dangerous man!"

"You may not know it but this man is a spy.

He's a undercover agent for the FBI

And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan!"

He was still bent over holdin on to his knee

But everybody else was looking and listening to me

And I laid it on thicker hand heavier as I went

"He's a friend of them long haired, hippy-type, pinko ****!

I betchya he's even got a commie flag

tacked up on the wall inside of his garage."

"He's a snake in the grass, I tell ya guys.

He may look dumb but that's just a disguise,

He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage"

"Would you believe this man has gone as far

As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars.

And he voted for George McGovern for President."

They started lookin real suspicious at him

He jumped up and said "Now just wait a minute Jim!

You know he's lying I been living here all of my life!"

"I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch

And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church.

And I aint even got a garage, you can call home and ask my wife!"

Then he started saying somethin bout the way I was dressed

But I didn't wait around to hear the rest

I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck

When I hit the door I was making tracks

And they were just taking my car down off the jacks

So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in and fired that mother up

Mario Andretti wouldda sure been proud

Of the way I was movin when I passed that crowd

Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trott

Now I guess I should of gone ahead and run

But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun

Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot

I had them all out there steppin and fetchin

Like their heads was on fire and their ***** was catchin

then I figgered I had better go ahead and split before the cops got there

When I hit the road I was really wheelin

Had gravel flyin and rubber squeelin

And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas

I think I'm gonna reroute my trip

I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped

If I went to L.A., via Omaha
Wow! Do you have the jacket liner?

I was in the bathroom brushing my shoulder length hair, and Grandma came running in.

Son you better come quick, that tape machines eating that tape and it's making a horrible sound.

Ahh.. no Grandma, that's the way it's supposed to sound. Oh my lord!!
