While I was away for a birthday trip w/some friends, another friend of mine passed away. He was only 42 years old and leaves behind a wife and young daughtor. His name was Douglas (Doug) Wade Jones, he worked 20+ years w/the local Sheriff's dept. He was a big Harley rider, owned a Road King, a 2002 model I think. He died doing what he loved, he was attending a Harley rally in Franklinton LA. He and some other friends rented a cabin. He went outside to gather some fire wood and failed to return. His friends went to ck on him and found him, an apparent heart attack. Will attend visitation tonight. His obit can be found at the clarionledger.com its in todays paper. If anyone reads this please say a prayer for him and his family, they will need it to get though this time. Thanx-bd

That's just a shame. My condolences go out to you and his family & friends. Take care, life is short. Enjoy every breath, the next one's a gift you may not receive.

:( Way, way, waaaaaaaaay too young to pass on like that by natural causes.

Condolences to the family and friends.

Donald, sorry to hear of your friend Dougs demise. His family and friends are in our prayers. Painman.

Geez. I can remember when 40 or 50 years old seemed old to me. Now I think of 50 as still pretty young. Condolences on the loss of your friend.

Thanx everybody! Doug and his family appreciate! I think the whole town of Clinton, MS showed up there last night for visitation a well liked and respected man. Found out it was not a heart attack but he developed a blood clot in a lung, just goes to show--you never know when your number is up--remain prepared!

The most bazaar thing happened last Friday. I got a call while I was on a weekend trip out of town. A friend called upset and told me that Terri Jones, Doug's wife had just died. So within one week their 13 year old daughter had lost both parents. Her obit was in the local paper yesterday clarionledger.com. When I returned from my trip I went straight to the funeral home for visitation. A very sad situation, if there is any good news out of this whole thing, Terri has a sister that lives close by and their daughter Hanna will be adopted by Terri's sister and Hanna will still attend her regular school and keep her friends. Please say a prayer for little Hanna she will need all the strenght, courage and prayer support she can get. Thanx-bd

Wow DonaldB... just caught this. So sorry to hear about your pal. And now the wife... prayers for their daughter.

Donald, sorry once again to hear of such a great loss. Sometimes we just can't figure out why things happen such as these. God has better plans than ours though. Prayers to you and the family of Doug. Blessings, Painman. <><

Wow. Sorry to hear such bad news. I have heard plenty of times about one spouse dying soon after the other but that has only been for very old couples. These people were much too young. Condolences to the family and friends.

Prayers for their daughter.

That has to be tough for her. Hope she finds her way though it. 13 might just be the worst possible age to lose both parents in a MTV world.

Hard to believe. I'll be thinking of this young lady, and she'll be in my prayers.

We had a family of 5 , from churc, who's daughter was killed in a car wreck. She was 17. Her 19 year old brother was away in the army. He got permission to come home for the funeral and was killed in a car accident the day before his sisters funeral. It was surreal hearing about his death.

I hope she has a good family support group. 13 would be the worst time in a childs life for a tragedy like this to happen.

Sincerely sorry about the loss of your friend. Having just turned 48 yesterday it certainly makes me think that every moment needs to be lived to its fullest..... Wishing his family the best..........

The local Hardly shop here in Jackson and "their" club which Doug was a member, put together a fund raising ride for Doug and Terri's daughter, Hanna last Saturday, they had it on our local news, they estimated some 300 bikes. If ya'll recall Doug died in Louisiana attending a hog rally and then his wife Terri fell ill the day of his funeral and she died the day after, leaving little Hanna w/o parents. Anyway, they held a auction and did some other good things for Hanna. Hanna is to be adopted by Terri's sister who lived only a couple blocks away, so Hanna will keep her friends and stay in the same school, Terri's sister Pennie is a real good person, so Hanna is in good hands. Would like to have participated, but I did a few of those group rides back when I had my cruiser and dang near got ran over from behind. Those things are dangerous and after that experience I vowed to never involve myself in another. My wife plays Bunko w/Pennie, so Hanna will be over at our house a few times a year, so I will get to see her and ck up w/her on how things are going. Thanx to everyone for thoughts and prayers!

My thoughts and prayers as well. A terrible situation, but I have to say one thing about the Harley riders. They do stick together and are a very supportive group. My hat is off to them.
