Apologies if there are threads on this but, I have searched and searched...

Anyway, want to get feedback from anyone who has knowledge with the Fi2000 relative to smoothing out the Throttle Whack on an 07. PC 3 with Maps is said to do it, plus for the purist, a custom dyno.. The Fi2000 is as cheap as the pc 3 without maps and is plug and play.

Any input...

Thanks

Well some input from our shop backroom. Total FI200 sold, installed and worked well = zero compaired to PCIII installed and worked = over 100 last riding season. We installed 4 of the Cobra FI200 systems on bikes last month (Dec) and they have all come back to have PCIII systems installed. I tried the Barbarian Jumper first on my 07 AE and it smoothed out the throttle and lower end stumble. Just my 2 cents...... ;<)

If you read the instruction manual, it sounds like a neutered Power Commander. It's pre-mapped for a stock bike, but has some very limited adjustment capability for modified bikes. You can't modify the fuel map like a Power Commander; you can only adjust 2 knobs that make adjustments to very wide RPM ranges (the lower half of the RPM range and the upper half), regardless of throttle position. The instructions tell you to adjust it based on how powerful it "feels". There is no wide band O2 sensor involved, so its claim to "provide the correct air/fuel ratio" is B.S., except for a stock bike running in the same ambient conditions under which the device was tuned by the manufacturer.

I'd go with the Power Commander over this. DynoJet provides a map for the Power Commander that was tuned for max/smooth torque on a stock bike, and it has the ability to make broad changes to low/mid/high RPM ranges (an improvement over the Fi200's low/high RPM adjustments). And, of course, you have the option to get the Power Commander properly tuned for your bike if you modify intake/exhaust on your bike.

If you're willing to spend some more money and do some wire splicing, you could go for the Motty AFR Tuner. It really will always provide the correct (as determined by you) air/fuel ratio, even if you modify your bike.

Looks interesting, however I don't see the GenII FJR listed on the fitments list.
Fitments List
The manual for the Gen I FJR explicitly states that it will not work on 2006+ FJRs.

I should clarify that the Power Commander map for a stock FJR is available for FREE from DynoJet, so there's no advantage to the Fi200 at all (unless there's a slight price advantage?), but there are disadvantages in that it is less configurable and not as widely known/supported as the Power Commander.

Right... My PC3 came with 3 Maps if I recall correctly. A Stock Map, and two others to choose from. I think I settled on Wally's or some other mixture, which was also free, though not perfect but since I'm not willing to spend the $$ to squeeze out .5-3 HP I'm good to go. :)

Edit: Maybe I downloaded them from their site, can't recall. Thought they were on the disk though, regardless they were free.

To all,

Thanks for the input. Thinks Ill stay with the PC approach. Dollar for dollar I think its likely the best. I put a G2 on and it seemed to help initially. As well, some of this is Pilot experience. The only other mod I have is a K/N Filter.
