Hoping not to be a NEPRT dweller here...

I searched at least 30 different combinations with strings such as +final, +rear, +drive, +temperature, +hot, +feel, +heat etc.

Never could find a post Title related to the operating temperature of the final drive.

Got a nail in the rear tire two days ago. Yesterday I took an easy 20 mi ride to check that my gummy worm was holding...it was/is.

When I got home I immediately checked the tire pressure; while doing so I happened to touch the pumpkin. HOLY CRAP...that thing

was hot! I couldn't touch it for longer than a second. I think it would blister my finger if I held it to it longer. So I checked to ensure

it's properly lubed...it is. I don't have a temperature sensor...but I seems hotter than it should be. Note: I did not run the tire w/ low pressure.

Outside temp was 85 degrees under sunny skies and light winds. I was babying the bike because I was checking the new worm in the tire.

So my question is...Is does your final drive get too HOT to touch or close to it?

Thanks!

If you cannot hold your hand on it for a few seconds its probably hotter than 140. That is not to hot for a drive pumpkin. You will not know for sure without a temp gauge of some type. I have checked several on autos and trucks and they are usually about 140 to 160 unless something is wrong.

Asked a few times, but nobody has actually measured it.

Too hot to touch...yes. But, that's still just fine. Oil and parts don't come close to breaking down until FAR warmer.

Ive got a temp gun that I use to measure the temp on my nitro R/C cars. Ill get a temp of mine this weekend.
