2005 SV 650. I have wanted one for a long time. Didnt sell the FJR to get it. Fun little bike to ride so far. I will do a report after several months of riding with my impressions.

SVs rock. I just sold my '02 with over 50,000 miles to a forum member and upgraded to an '08 with fuel injection and ABS. Schveet!

I call it the "Schwinn with 70hp" because it's like riding a bicycle after wheeling the FJR around.

Plus it's a hell of a lot easier to work on... pull off seat, tilt up tank... there's your valve cover! And the other one's just behind the radiator, which swings out of the way.

I'm not missing carbs, but you need an $800 computer tool to sync the throttle bodies. This is because there's a valve that meters air individually into each TB and you need to tell it to go to a pre-set position. The tool does a ton more than that, and also does ABS diagnosis.

Congrats! Everyone needs at least 2 but 3 is even better.
That's what I'm trying to convince my wife of that too. I had a TL1000R a few years back and found a local one for sale with really low miles. I really would like to have it. She says I don't need. My response, "Yes, but you have like 40 pair of shoes. You don't need all of them either." No dice, I have the FJR and a KLR.

I don't count the KTM as a second bike 'cause off road is another thing entirely. Bought a Suzuki RF900R a few months back but haven't had time to title or ride it. Now winter is here. Maybe get to try it out in the spring. Thinking a dual sport would be a good addition too, looking at a DRZ 400.

Thr RF900R was a great bike. Very under rated, low sales numbers. I had one and it ran perfectly. The pegs were really high for me so I eventually sold it. No problems ever though.

SV's are great bikes. I have one for a track bike and it's loads of fun. On a tight track (no long straights) a properly set up one with a good rider on it will easily run even or ahead of larger sportbikes . ( ... and they don't eat tires like the crotch rockets!)

From what I'm reading, second gear was weak and would start to pop out if you hammered it often. I like the styling. I don't have a lot invested so I'm not worried about it. Driving it around the block it seemed fine. So may bikes, so little time.

I just picked up a 83 GS1100E as a around town 23000 miles motor reminds me of the FJR
