First Gear Mesh 3/4 Jacket

I just got a First Gear 3/4 length mesh Jacket that comes with a removable linner. (I'd post a link but it is discontinued and I can't find one.) They claim the linner will keep you dry in the rain. It seems to be made with that in mind as it has gutters sown into the zipper flaps to channel the water away.

I'm leaving in the rain in 2 days and have never had a chance to try it out. Should I trust this jacket or bring the big bulky rain coat anyway?

I have the mesh with the liner

It kept me dry. One thing to watch is if your glove go over the jacket the water gets trapped between the mech and the liner and when you put your arms down the water runs into your gloves
