Bagger,

Did you pick up your bike from Columbia Motorsports? Do you know how many they got in? I'm still waiting for mine but not word from them. I'm supposed to be number 8.

Bagger -- I'm finally getting some miles on my `05 T and can relate to two things you mentioned; the seat and the throttle hand....

I went budget and ordered just the Corbin front seat instead of the pair. Skipped the heated seat feature too, so it was around $230 as I recall. Once it gets here I can add my impressions.

I'm guessing it's the stiff main throttle spring that causes numbness in the right hand (my left hand is fine) and a while back I read of a 'fix' on this forum. If memory serves, some riders were unhooking the main throttle return spring and allowing the other four throttle return springs do the work, causing much less tension on the right hand and wrist. I'm sure someone will add to this topic.

I went to synthetic Belray EXS 0W-40 Superbike Oil at 1500 miles, but this quote is directly from their website: "Due to anti-wear characteristics of Bel-Ray EXS Synthetic Superbike Motor Oil, a standard petroleum motor oil must be used on new engines during the engine break-in period (between 600-800 miles)."

Yes, my FJR came in Thrusday and I picked it up Good Friday at CMS. I think they received 2 of the 8 they have coming. They didn't know the bikes were arriving. Yamaha did not give them a 'heads up'. Call Scott and see if he know anything more, bud. I belive if you had a March delivery (as I did), your bike will be here in April. If April.... I'd say May. But, ask them, I'm just guessing.

FredH.....

Lemme know how you defeat the "auto retract" feature on the windscreen. I agree that I would like a bit more from the windscreen in height and width. I'm sure in 4-6 months some body will have this.

I also added a Throttle Boss to my FJR. I like the Throttle Rocker that I have on the Wing better, but I had this in stock. And, I'll prolly change oil 'round 600 miles with Mobil 1 as I have will all my bikes.

MrT.....

My right hand is still messed up. Kinda like a tingling in the mid palm. I get this from time to time on my mtn bike from having so much weight on my hands. I really need some risers on the FJR... an inch would be grand. I wouldn't mind it coming back more as well. Then, of course, I'd need a taller windscreen.

BTW, I have never had any tingling or numbness in my hands on other motorcycles, unless the bars were to low and too far forward.

I need to do some work with the damping/diving as well. When I throttle back, the weight transfer to my poor hands is pretty bad. Braking? Fogitaboutit..!

Didn't ride today, golf this AM with my bad right paw, cold, tired and house painters came to ruin my week, too.

I will need a new saddle.... I like Rich's Custom saddles and need a backrest, too. I plan to contact them soon and maybe do something that will take the weight off my hands a bit and give me some back support as well. We'll see how this works out.

Bagger - if I may make a suggestion, try putting several long days on the FJR before you start replacing the seat and bars and moving your riding position around. I had been away from motorcycles for several years when I bought my ST1300 about 18 months ago. The years (i.e., old age) seemed to have taken their toll. I'm an old sport bike rider, but I was getting a lot of shoulder and wrist pain riding the ST. I also didn't like the seat at all.

10,000 miles later the only thing I have changed is a one inch riser in the handlebars. I found that it just took a little conditioning to adapt to the ergonomics of the motorcycle. I have a Goldwing to, so I know how different these bikes feel after I've been riding the Goldwing. I really think you need a couple of thousand miles to decide what you really want to change.

Just my thoughts.

Hey, thanx for the suggestions. Yeah, I'm gonna take some time to determine what I need. But, I gotta tell ya, the bars need to be up and I need a different saddle with a backrest.

I've had backrests for nearly 15 years... maybe more. Harleys, Valk, VTX, Wing, yada, yada. I need a backrest or I can't ride 50 miles. It's not that I lay back, it's the 'support' that keeps me from hunching over.

The FJR is certainly a different riding position than my Wing or VTX.... which are both different from each other. Both have backrests and custom saddles. The Wing is done by a saddle maker, the VTX is a Mustang. The Wing's better by about 8 light years.

I don't think 'conditioning' would help me. I ride a moutain bike pretty hard 3-4 hours a week and work out with weights 3 times as well. Plus, I clean out 11 litter boxes in a circuit type deal. ;) Whateva...

Hang in there Bagger - if the aftermarket for the '06 turns out anywhere near as good as for the '05 and under, you'll soon have plently of farkles to choose from, and bunch of forum people to help you sort out which are best for you and how to install them.

My '05 didn't suit me all that well when I first got it, had some of the same issues you have. It's MUCH better now! Added taller/wider screen, custom seat, bigger softer hand grips, cruise, and highway pegs. Don't forget the highway pegs! More room for the legs and more cool air coming into the rider area when it's hot out. Should also kick you back a little into that backrest, but I don't have a backrest so I don't know for sure.

Good luck bro!!

bigger softer hand grips
What grips are you using Windjammer? Anyone else have a favorite brand and supplier, along with any installation suggestions?

This leads to the next "gripping" question; if heated grips are installed on the FJR are you stuck with the stock grip that comes with them? Anyone have favorite heated grip types and suppliers?

My Corbin (front) saddle arrived Friday and a short ride told me right away that things are going to be much better at the 150-mile mark.

Prior to this spring Monsoon setting in over the Northeast, I was finally able to rack up some miles on my FJR....

First off, THANKS YAMAHA for a fantastic fun machine!

Secondly, the new Corbin seat fits my arse much better and was a nice addition. I went without the heated seat feature and have not regretted that choice. BTW, Corbin has just posted some News about their new FJR seat at https://www.corbin.com/news/

Just pickep up my 06 yesterday (minus the bags) and did my first 170 miles on it. First impressions are that I like the electric w/s a lot but will need a taller one. I like how everything is total silence once you get behind it. Problem is I have to duck down because it is too low. Also makes for excessive wind noise in all positions. Will need ear plugs. Granted I only rode for 2 hours straight but found the seat to be comfortable as was the general ergonomics. I had the dealer put the bars in the rearmost position and I think the seat is in the low position. I too would like to have the w/s stay in the up position. Has anyone posted a fix for this? Will also need cruiser pegs just to stretch out once in a while. Otherwise great bike, power and handling light years above my old Valk Interstate.

"Later this week I will be looking to see how feasible manufacturing handlebar risers are for the '06. I'll let you know what I find."

WAHOOO. +1 on that idea :yahoo:
