I want to thank, or blame, this board for my recent purchase of an ’05 model with ABS. Its been a few years since I’ve owned a road bike but it didn’t take long to realize this was exactly what I was looking for. Back in the day I owned a VFR1100 and V45 Sabre and wondered what a cross breed would be like. 20 years later Yamaha has done a helluva job.
I flew up to central California on Sunday and by 12:30 was heading back to SlowCal on the 101. The previous owner had put just over 1100 miles of break in on the bike which turned out to be good since I didn’t show much patience on the way south. 490 miles, 8 hrs, Walnut Creek to Fullerton, CA.
First impressions;
Rock solid… very impressed with the overall feel.
Snappy, but not break neck (I ride and desert race a WR450 so I might have been expecting too much)
Heavy buffet and wind noise (gots to get a taller shield)
Grips hard… throttle hand got a little sore
Seat and arse were not on friendly terms after about 6 ½ hours
Only remembered once to lift leg and not kick side bag
90 mph at 5150 rpm… kept checking to see if it grew a 6th gear
Home safe and sound, lovin the new ride.
Ron
I look forward to being part of this excellent group and appreciate any words of wisdom I can imbibe.
