First Trip to PNW

Had a business trip that required me to fly into Portland OR for a few days this week. I can see why you guys love the PNW. This was my first experience in this part of the country and must say I was very impressed. I was originally bummed a little since I was forced to be away from home on my birthday on Monday and missed being with my family and friends. But the trip we made on Tuesday was a great present. We ended up with a little extra time on Tuesday afternoon and drove north to the Mount St Helens area. After being cloudy and overcast all day Monday, it was a pleasant surprise to see the sun come our Tuesday and it made our drive so much nicer. We ended up going across highway 504 (I think) up to Cold Water Lake. I can only imagine how enjoyable the trip would have been on 2 wheels. I can only imagine the kind of roads and scenery can be found in the area. I know we have some great roads here in north GA and the foothills of the Appalachians, but I know I’ll add a trip to our Upper Left Corner to my bucket list. What beautiful country. I took a couple of photos with my crackberry. They don't do the views justice, but you get the idea. I certainly jealous of anyone who gets to enjoy this all the time.

Guys, Bull doesn't know what he's talking about. The PNW is a horrible, ugly place. The mold and mildew must have infected his brain while he was here.

Please, do not visit. Save yourselves.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and found a new place to ride when you get the chance. I love living in the PNW, I think we have some of the best roads in the country, give yourself a month to cover all the good riding here, then come back again a 2nd time!

The scenary here is crap and the weather matches; windy, raining, hot, and cold; no rest for the wicked when it comes to the weather. And, do not forget the roads are horrible, too many cracks, potholes with most banked the wrong direction.

Personally, I think BullCBX was confused when uploading those pictures.

Used to live near Portland, OR.

Rains all the time, place is chock full of homeless, it's always overcast, traffic sucks, influx of Californians jack up the home prices, everyone you meet is from somewhere else, the state has no money, nobody speaks English, highest population of gun-toting libertarians, three Starbucks and a Whole Foods on every corner, too many brewpubs to get any riding in.

And I can't wait to get back.

I went to Google Maps and MapQuest, I tried Mapsource, Street Atlas, Street & Trips, plain ol's Google search, even paper maps.

I don't find no place called Awe. So you're in where again ????

Stupid kidding aside, I have a cousin near Seattle, and would love to get up there one day. It's kind far, though, like diagonally across the entire continent. OK, not as far as Alaska, but it's far.
