Hi guys and gals,

Well, I just got back from Lake George from the Americade Rally and had a chance to demo ride the 06 FJR.

I did demo ride the 04 & 05 FJR also but my comparison is more for the 05 to 06 FJR. First the heat issue that the 05 had I think is fixed on the 06. There was a little heat coming up but not nearly as much as the 05. The fairing/windshield is also much better on the 06. I didn't have ear plugs in for the ride but almost didn't need them. I did notice the "whistle" but when the shield was full up. It wasn't too bad but it is there. Again, I think ear plugs would solve that problem.

This leads me to the negtive comment regarding engine noise. I did notice this on the 05 but I think because the wind buffetting was so bad it over shadowed the engine noise. I would say if I had my ear plugs in the 06 engine noise would not be an issue. The the last negative comment is regarding the throttle spring, boy is it stiff. The demo ride was only a 1/2 hour but my right wrist was hurting by the end of the ride.

I had the seat in the full down position and not sure about the H/B but I thought the seating position was pretty much upright with just a very slight lean forward. I'm 5'9" with a 32" inseam. I also thought the seat was comfortable but I did try the new Corbin seat for the 06 FJR and it seemed much more comfortable.

Now I didn't ride the K1200GT but my Brother did as well as the 06 FJR and he thought the BMW was smoother, much less engine noise and had a less harsh rear suspension but I think he had the FJR set to "hard". He thought the fairing/windshield coverage was the same as was the overall power of both bikes. He didn't like the vibration on the 06 FJR.

Well, that's it. Overall I would buy the 06 FJR as the improvements over the 05 are many but I think I will keep my Bandit 1200S for another year or two!
