I just got my 05 FJR,,, The idle is set so high ,, after it is well warmed up it is still to high,, I think around 1500 rpms that when I put it in gear it really clacks the 1st gear dogs,,, is there a simple way to lower ithe idle...

Thanks Much....

Right side of the bike, about half way down, look slightly forward through the slits in the faring and you will see a black knob that adjusts the idle. You didn’t say if your ’05 is new or not. A botched throttle body sync can cause the idle speed to hang up and not be settable down to 1,000 -- 1,100 rpm. If the idle won’t set down (run out of screw) you will need a sync. There are other things like an intake air leak that can cause the same high idle but start with the TB sync.

Just curious, do you have the Audiobox cruise control on the bike? If not installed correctly, the accelerator control cable can cause the throttle to open a little, causing the idle to be higher than normal.

Wellhellalrightynow. Read everything here BUT exchange any knob color mentioned to be anything from black to white. It is the only knob in this area. Done.

From FJRTech: Locating the Idle Adjustment Knob:

If the bike is stock and has nothing installed to alter the idle, then where should it be set...RPM?

Set idle 1,000 to 1,100 rpm per FSM (Factory Service Manual) The knob should not be 'bottomed out' at 1,000 rpm.
