Howdy from Sacramento...been lurking for a while, reading up on the FJR. My current ride is a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan and I've decided it's time to move over to the FJR.

A nice one has turned up at a BMW-Triumph dealership down in the SF Bay area. 2005 w/ABS, Corbin seat, CB windshield, only 13,300 miles. Saleslady says it's a 2-owner bike that was traded in for a new RT. Never been dropped. No idea if its a ticker or not but the odds are against it.

They want $7900 for it, but I think starting at $7500 should be fine. I would be trading in my Vulcan so the out-of-pocket amount should be well within my budget. Hopefully the rains move out by Tuesday so I can run down there and check it out.

Wish me luck.

I paid $7500 for mine a bit over a month ago, but there was a very high level of farkelization done (and done right!) and YES warranty remaining. It was (and is) near flawless.

Hope that helps. GOOD LUCK!!!

Welcome from Roseville, Stew, and good luck.

I'd think about starting the bidding nearer 6500, let 'em work you over to get near 7K. Check kbb and ?? (can't remember the other big source of bike estimates) for ammo before you go. Have seen a couple on Craigslist in the low 6Ks, but never in CA. (I think CO and TX have each had '05s w/ less than 20K miles for $6200 within the last 2 months, but they're pretty rare - and both bikes got snapped up). SearchTempest sorts Craigslist ads by proximity to your address.

Welcome & good luck!

Start low, times are tight & they are not a Yamaha dealer so they should want to move it and be willing to deal.

Steal that sucker, and quit being a nice guy, you'll know that most of us here are hard *** mother's, offer them 6900 and give 'em 7100. Or get them to throw in a nice BMW jacket...on second thought just offer them 69, it's a good number.

Rocketdoc is just TOO nice of a guy..........

Offer them $6500, and DO NOT move off your price.

Leave your phone number with them, and you will get a call within a couple hours.

They will offer all kinds of incentives, BUT..... DO NOT move from your price.

This is NOT the last bike you will see,,,,,, If they want to sell, they will keep calling.

Don't let the dazzle of having a "New Bike" sway you, stand firm.

You might be surprised..........

Good Luck.

Test ride first. Make sure the tick is not there like you said and run it up in second gear hard. Don't want it if second gear is out of it either. Most likely the bike is solid and you can make a nice deal :)

I agree the price while not real high is still high. I paid $6300 for a 2004 with only 6450 miles on it.

Good luck

:clapping: Welcome to the forum. :clapping:

Another plus for you is your location.

1st, one of the premier places for warranty work on an FJR is Roseville Yamaha where the service manager (Zac) is an FJR owner.

2nd, there are sooooo many good roads and rides within a 100 mile radius.

3rd, the Sac Valley owners are some of the best people on earth and I'm proud to call them friends.

4th, is the many local rides from Sacramento. Keep an eye on the ride planning section for our New Years Day ride. It will not be FJR specific so join us if you can.

5th....well, the list goes on and on and on and.....
