FJR Tank Bag

Hi,

I tried to purchase the tank bag from FJR goodies - but it is no longer available. So - I did not know if anyone had one they were willing to part with. Or - suggestions on what tank bag fits well. I have the one from Yamaha - got is for a gift - does not fit well.

I would ask FJR goodies to proivde you the Yamaha Part number. Since they no longer carry it I would hope they would give it to you. I know it is not avaialble in the US however I have been told its avaialable in Canada and Europe. I used www.yamahagenuineparts.com to order a top box bag which is also not available in the us. I looked on their site and there is a tank bag that does not have a picture that could be it. The part number is YMD200107000.

There are plenty of aftermarket tank bags that fit well on the FJR. If you are interested in search the forum for tank bags and you will find lots of reading material. The one you want will depend on your preferences and how you intend to use it.

I will primary use it for travel - maps - water - glasses & such. Not for around town - had someone actually open my last tank bag & helped themselves. So - for around town - I use a smaller on that will fit in my side bags - or no tank bag at all. I might some electronics - Ipod - maybe a radar detector?

I feel your newbie pain with the search function, especially in regards to your need to acquire information about a tank bag ("bag" being a less-than-4 letters illegal search word). FWIW, I can recommend the Nelson Rigg CL-350 as a fine magnetic tank bag; high functionality marks from me. I'd offer a link for you but the NRigg site is apparently down and I'd rather not link to a dealer I'm not familiar with (I got mine from NR directly).

Hope you soon find the bag that works best for you.

If you're on a budget, check these two Nelson Riggs tank bags on closeout from Dennis Kirk for $27 and $36. One is magnetic the other is strapped.
