If you buy a ramp make sure it is sturdy enough for the weight of the FJR. Have as many people as possible help you unload and make sure someone is holding the front brake to ease the bike down.

If the bed is so short that the tire is resting on the tailgate make sure the mechanism that holds the tailgate is in good shape. On my Chevy I frequently have to replace the cables that hold the tailgate because they corrode and break.

We will be loading it with a 4' wide folding aluminum ramp. So, I feel better knowing we will be able to put our feet down.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

I trailer and or truck both my plastic clad motorcycles for various reasons and the only comment not yet made is that I mounted tie off points to the top of the truck bed rails and to the sides of the trailer so that the straps don't rub the paint when the bike is tied off to the tops of the forks.

I repeat one piece of advice: use plastic electrical tape on the strap hooks so they can't fall off if they loosen.

Secure the rear so it can't move sideways and put a chock behind the rear tire. I use large scews to secure the chock to the floor of the trailer.
