Quick question, are the GEN II wheels interchangeable with the Gen I wheels. If I was to find a set of wheels for an 04, can I use them on my 06?

Other than possible color differences and they're both ABS....yes they're interchangeable. Although hinted at...I'll tweak in the FJR Comparison Matrix.

Double check the bearing numbers. The axles "might" be different as the forks are not the same. The wheels themselves should physically be the same. The ABS rotors and spacer assembly could be different.

The wheels are the same. I have an '06 wheel on my '05. The other bits *may* be different, but that's beyond the wheel.

Again, rotor diameter is covered under the Matrix. And no it doesn't make a difference about the wheel.

Matt, you and I are coming from a different perspective.

While the wheels themselves may be the same (casting & machining), I'm assuming he wants to mount a set of tires on the newly purchased wheels and be able to interchange them. Because of that I am trying to make him aware that a "straight swap" may not be possible and that he should carefully check to avoid any "surprises".

Brake rotor diameter/spacing and wheel bearing inner diameter are possible problems that should be checked before mounting tires and assuming the wheel assembly will directly interchange.

The matrix you have so carefully constructed and constantly edit will give him information to begin his quest. A trial fit is the "final test".

Bearing:

'04: 93306-00420-00

'06: 93306-00420-00

Front Axle:

'04: 4XV-25181-00-00

'06: 2C0-25181-00-00

Brake Disc:

'04: 5VS-2581T-00-00

'06: 3P6-2581T-00-00

From the above part number comparison, it appears the axles are the same diameter to that is an easy answer, although the axles themselves are a different part number. Different length for the newer forks?

The brake disc being a different number COULD indicate a different contour at the mounting flange, a different outside diameter, or something as simple as a different drill pattern for the cooling/vent holes.

Someone more knowledgeable about the font end parts will have to answer. OR, cyclemed could become our resident expert on this interchange. :umnik2:
