[Did Yamaha find a way to coax more output from the pathetic stock alternator?]

Was warchild not hinting a month or so ago that he was up to something regarding increased wattage ??

Howard

Someone mentioned that it appeared at Tech-West but the difference in output was minimal. I can't verify this but if it's made by Electrex, then it may be a less-costly option for those needing to replace a blown OEM one some time in the furute.

If you guys are seriously interested I can contact the German firm that developed the cop-FJR and ask them if they installed a different alternator.

Just say the word.

Stef

Word Stef. I would be interested

If is is not a big hassle.

Thanks

WORD!

Also, see if you can get the skinny on that electronics box, sans the electronics and the mounting brackets for the pull-your-***-over blue blinky lights mounted to the fairing and the phone number to the luscious blonde with the long legs that lives 'round the corner from you and the secret recipe for Coca Cola and tonight's winning Super Lotto numbers... :)

Thanks.

Honda in the USA is also getting agressive w/ marketing the ST1300 to law enforcement. Got an invite to preview one. What they haven't done is match the H-D price. Typically cost concious city government won't go for the extra$$ for the BMW (or Honda for that matter) I tried. Our H-D deal is $199 per.mo lease, no money down, bike under warranty and a new bike every year and $200 to pick up the old one and drop off the new one. We own the police equipment and the mechanic switches it to the new bike. Spoke at length w/ the BMW LE rep. (he's here in north NJ)and no way he could come close to the H-D deal. He's a great guy by the way and really is enthusiastic about sport touring bikes.

TWN, I spoke to the guy and he may also have a lead to the second shooter's identity in Dallas. :****:

lawinter, TWN

The "Technischer Leiter" of the German firm that produces the cop-FJR has responded to my e-mail.

It would appear that the alternator on the bike has remained unchanged.(*)

Stef

(*) it is however recommended to turn off the radio when using the siren and only one strobe light at the time can be operated. Heated vests and grips are powered by steam which is bled from the radiator. I **** you not, I promise

:tease: :tease: :tease:

Dang, boss

I didn't ask about the other stuff. Just the alternator.

I can give you guys the e-mail address and you can fire away with your questions.

Stef

PS: What're you gonna do, TWN, put on some flashing lights and write a few tickets as an independent po-lice contractor? :D :D :D

If FJR's will be use for LEO bikes, the charging system will have to be improved by Yamaha. With all the extra lights, radio and sirens.
One would hope they would provide more capacity but it really may not be required. It all depends on how long/much/often the extra items are required. Having said that, lots of idling/slow riding in hot temperatures with a lot of fan use might be problematic with the extras though. It would be good to look into any modifications that they add for LEO service though.
