My 2013 FJR won't restart 5-10 minutes after stopping (it will restart in the first few minutes).

Engine turns freely but will not fire. No fuel pump priming, no diagnostic errors displayed and cannot access the diagnostics when this happens. When engine temperature drops to 67 degrees C it always starts immediately (and can then access the diagnostics)!

Have tried fiddling with ignition,side-stand, clutch and red ignition cut-off switches but makes no difference. Disconnecting the battery for 30s and then reconnecting doesn't help either.

Any suggestions very welcome?

I had the same issue with my 2003, turns out the starter was bad. Replaced the starter and never had another issue with it.

Went like this, cold start, no problem. With a hot engine, if you stalled it and restarted it would start, but sound like it was hard, almost like a weak battery. Hot engine, get gas and try to restart, no luck. Would have to wait 20-30 min for the bike to cool down and it will start back up,

I replaced the battery, no luck, and it was always possible to bump start if it was hot, the starter just would not do it.

This was a double post - active thread is here:

Failure to restart IS consistent with a bad starter but the inability to access diagnostic mode points more to a problem associated with the ECU (IMHO). Besides, the OP says the engine turns freely which is NOT the case with a faulty starter motor drawing too much current.
